Hello, I went to the NEC and I ended up buying some boots. I won't be wearing until I get a bike worthy of them being worn, my moped doesn't justify boots right now.

I got these Sidi ones for £99 from the J&S Stall. Was it a good price?

Yes, a bargain. Northernlass has the same boots and paid £105 for them, which is still cheaper than we've seen anywhere else. They seem to be about £115 normally.

Hrm, I'm going to the NEC tomorrow (Sunday)... Can anyone recommend a good brand of gloves to look for decent discounts on? My old (barely eight months old Rolling Eyes ) gloves are looking decidedly old and battered having been crashed in four times. For all they have a waterproof membrane (now visible through the seam which is undoing itself...) it seems really cack, not really remotely waterproof.

I bought a similar pair from ebay for £70, but they were a bit more sporty (calf sliders, toe sliders etc.). Sidi are expensive so i'd have expected you to pay another 25-30 quid for a pair like that! They look spot on too mate, good choice! Wink

Thumbs Up

Seeing as bargains are to be had everywhere at the NEC, next year I have decided I will buy a leather outfit at next years show. Thumbs Up

Last day, so you may get good deals on what they don't want to take back (cash in the hand against stock taking up space and all that).

Don't be afraid to ask if that's the best price.

They are good boots, I've had 2 pairs. Comfy enough for walking around in and nice and walm with it.

Just don't crash in them (especially when they are only 3 days old Doh! ) - although they do their job they don't last too well.

There weren't half as many scantily clad females there today as the pictures suggested. It was packed though, so access to the bikes was a bit hectic, getting decent pictures and sitting on every one I wanted to was a bit tricky.

I got myself a pair of very nice Akito Storm gloves for £25 though, so my primary mission was accomplished. Mr. Green Those'll keep my hands nice and toasty through the winter I hope. Thumbs Up

RRP £40-50 from what I can see elsewhere. Very Happy

Thats about the going rate for the rain boots.
Decent price I'd say, not a bargain.

Wotcha.

The other vehicle ( which is usually the case ) that runs into you won't care if you're riding a moped or a monster. Ask yourself "does keeping my toes justify boots right now ?"

I know this sounds patronizing coming from someone who doesn't wear a helmet when riding, and tends to wear sandals when using the trike . . but I'd be most annoyed if I'd spent good money on such stuff and then copped a good 'un when not wearing it Shocked

I was just about to say that I always wear 'decent' clothing when riding a solo bike, but sadly this is what I wore when going around the TT course a few years back.
Strange helmet, lack of boots, silly coat and trousers

I'd best get me coat Mr. Green

Sidi 'black rain evo', list at 135 quid rrp, so you did ok. My brother bought some, and 2 years down the line they're still 100% waterproof, and still look great. Thumbs Up

I'd say it was an OK price, not a bargain. My bro paid £109 a year ago for the same boots.

I definately spent much to much! in fact im considering banning myself from future NEC shows in the interests of my overdraft limit!
I got:
Dainese winter gloves £55
Fog City £13
Akropavic titanium can with removable baffle £310
Pirelli Diablo Corsa's £165
K&N filter from Straightline Racing stand for £38
(guys at Straightline are very helpful and friendly, i have been advised to go for a Factory jet kit, instead ofa Dynojet kit, as they are about £20 cheaper, and apparently much eaiser to fit, even though i wont be fitting it myself)

Ive also got waiting to go on my bike:
HEL s/s brake line kit, Factory ignition advancer, EBC HH pads, and a dark smoked screen.

Just need about another £250 to get my MOT,Tax, tyres fitted and have the bike set up/dynoed at BSD or somewhere?

There's enough scooter boys out there with mashed ankles to make it worth worrying about your own ability to walk rather than what other people think.
