I have just "upgraded" my indicators to LED ones. I say upgraded really the old ones are about 19 years old and let water in constantly meaning the bulbs are always going. They look rather out of place on a CG but where cheaper than normal ones. Anyway, i fitted them and they all flash. The problems being that they all flash regardless of if you have the controls switched to turn right or left. I took the only "normal" bulb left in the circuit out which solved the problem. The only issue now is that i dont have a indicator light in the instrument cluster. Sad

Not really an issue for me as i can just look at the indicators themselves to see if they are on but i have a feeling that the MOT man may not like it. Sad

So any advice on how to wire an LED or something else into the instrument panel so i can have my indicator light back. Or would the best option just be to buy replica old type indicators? the only reason i didnt do this in the first place was because they LED ones where cheaper.

cheers

Tape over the clocks when you go for the mot as it will fail maybe you could get an led clocks light? Or repair old indicators.

For mots: what they can't see won't hurt em!

Most of the time using LEDs will cause them to flash very fast because there's much less resistance on the circuit, so you could try putting a resistor or 2 in or put it back to standard as there could be a different fault with the wiring it self

Instead of wiring in resistors you can get a new indicator relay that works for LED bulbs from this site. Just scroll down to just above the bottom and you should see the in the "indicator" section Thumbs Up

I got a new relay in thats designed for led indicators. It works fine until you put a non-led bulb in the circuit ie for the instrument panel. then all the indicators flash when if you indicate right or left. Does any one know if i can get an led replacement for the instrument panel. Its a 501 w type bulb. the ones without the caps on the bottom.

cheers
