Speedfight immobilizer problem

My friend has a Speedfight 2 ped, It got stolen by some burberry boi's a few weeks back but he managed to get it back virtually undamaged expect for an internal fault.

When it goes along at top speed the immobilizer kicks in and the bike basically slows down, It picks up again when it feels like it normally within about 10 seconds but it's still very dangerous and unusable.

Does anyone know how much this would cost to fix?

Doesn't sound like an imobiliser to me as it wouldn't start at all. I had the lock screwdrivered on my old slowfight and it cost over a hundred quid to get the barrel replaced and the keys re chipped.

I dont think this problem was caused by the chavs. Its actually a common speedfight problem. Peugeot have never been very great at electric's in cars or scooters.

Thankfully my speedfight has no faults. Mr. Green

Ps. To repair it shouldn't cost too much. Just a new imobiliser.

edit/ pps. Divuk, it is the imobiliser thats causing it.

If you want i have 2 immobliser/cdi units here from a speedfight you could have off me for a cheap price, once is brand new!

Ive had them for ages from when i had a scooteer like 2 years ago! Smile

They are like 140 pounds a piece new, i have the red key to go with the new cdi/iimbiliser unit so it will self program itself.

If it was the imobiliser then I would have thought it would it would stop completely. Could be any number of things causing it to bog down then work ok again. Almost sounds like carb icing to me. But then what do I know. I would have said a duff plug but then it wouldn't get better after a few mins.

yes mate it is deffinetly your imobiliser, i have bought a accident damaged one b4 and it did the same, all you will have to do is put a new cdi unit on it and set it up to the key!! do you know how to do this ??? there is a chip in your key and basicly you av to burn your imobiliser chip in your key to your cdi unit ( not by setting fire to it ) it is by turning the key in special ways to program your cdi unit to the key. if you want to know how to do it personal message me and i will tell you.
cdi will cost about £120 sorry, u can not get a second hand one unless u get the keys as well. ther is another way though by taking wiring loom of or a vision, that works
