I was only looking at guitars online.

How the hell did I end up buying one of these?

Linking a massive photo of it won't make it bigger.

Sort of thing that goes well with a laptop and a copy of Reason or Abelton.

Ar you saying you didn't intend to buy it, or that you didn't agree to buy it?

To clarify, it's been about fifteen years since I last had a keyboard (an awesome Yamaha SY-85 with a FLOPPY DISK DRIVE!):

https://n8imo.com/Music/SY85_Front.jpg

and even then I was always a better guitar player than keyboardista.

The original objective was to find a guitar and start playing again, but I got sidetracked by the shiny precious things.

I've been doing PR for a company called Novation - you may have heard of it.

This little toy is rather fun:

For £60, I can wait. I already have Reason, FL10 and Reaper standing by. If I get on with the whole DAW thing*, I might upgrade to one of the new M-Audio AIR models, or a Line 6 Pod Studio KB37 later next year. I might even get that guitar too.

*Depending on whether taking a punt on https://www.coursera.org/course/musicproduction works out or not.

I have one of these. I bought it to mess around on with Fruity Loops about 3/4 years ago. I did use it and make a semi alright sounding trance track with it but unfortunately, it sleeps under my bed, awaiting the day it might be fondled with again.

So how did the course go, get your juices going?

I know you're not the shy type....But if you were you could always post snippets. (I'll no doubt sample them and make better music) Razz

Nothing worth sharing yet. Mostly I'm just working through tutorials and confirming I know nothing.

You were looking at guitars and you bought a keyboard?! I would have at least thought you would have gone for something in the middle:

You could always go the opposite route and turn the guitar into a midi controller. Still in Beta tho

I went the self build route...

https://db.tt/5qif9CtO

then put the project on hold, then I found I could buy one :-

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Inspired-Instrument-YRG-1000-YouRock-Guitar/dp/B003DC78FW

But use my Korg Microkey and Akai LPD8 more than anything.

[Soz for busting in again]

@The Shaggy D.A.

Keep an eye out for the Yamaha EZ-EG (model number important) they crop-up for about 120 quid.

I keep meaning to get around to buying one, but...y'know, it's one more thing that needs setting up. Got enough instruments as it is. https://data.yamaha.jp/sdb/local/products/images/9123/12073/9123_12073_1.jpg

Does look nice tho....120 quid you say? Thinking Go on then, I'll get one.
