There's a scam they do in some places called the Swoop&Squat, basically a group of scammers buy a pair of cars, fill one of them with as many people as legal and then drive down a motorway until they spy a large, slow braking HGV, then position themselves and co-ordinate so that one of them "cuts up" the other, giving him an excuse to jam on the brakes in front of the HGV and he rams into them. The first car then makes good an escape and the second one stays behind to get insurance details... Then every person in the second car that got rearended claims off the HGV's insurance for massive injury compensation.
And the worst part is it's incredibly hard to identify as a scam, even with video evidence it looks like the trucker is at fault.

I've not personally seen one myself, but have seen a few on TV before, some motorway police show or such like.
