.. turns out they're passive speakers, not active. I can't return them for a different item because I left it too late (over 7 days according to Scan). These are the speakers.

https://www.johnlewis.com/231611486/Product.aspx

They were £50 quid on Scan, and they are quality speakers, problem is, I can't connect them to my computer.

Is there an easy solution? I just want them to be able to play music from an aux wire i.e. from my iPhone, from my headphone socket on the computer.

Or, will I have to try and sell them.

Enlighten me BCF Thumbs Up Karma

This might do you

https://www.systo.co.uk/audio-video/av-receivers/scythe-kama-bay-amp-mini-sda35-1000-bk.html

But its more spendage im afraid.

Its 7 WORKING days from receiving the goods not when they were sent. So really if it arrived on a monday it gives you 9 days to begin the return. That does not include the time to get the goods back.

If you can send them back then get some M-audio 80's, amp built in and quality units. Thumbs Up

Well you need an amp of some sort. That mini amp is mini so will be fine. You aren't going to find anything decent smaller than that.

If you got them for £50, can you not ebay them for £100 and by some active monitors?

the cambridge audio amps are meant to be good budget amps. might be worth going down to cashconverters or something similar and looking for second hand amps

get an amp, passive speakers are so much better than powered active speakers,
at any time you can up grade any park of the system, for minimal cost rather than buying a better far more expensive set of actives

Right, I'm down for getting an amp, the one posted is for computers though, which I don't mind, but it's not essential at all. Are there any better amps in that price range that could sit between the speakers and provide me with much nice sound?

Did you look at the picture. It can fit inside a normal HD bay or sit on its feet on your desk.

Yes I did mate, the point I was making was that if an amp that fits a computer as a secondary purpose was that cheap, surely o d without that secondary purpose would be even cheaper/better (in which way, I don't know).

Right, I think you overestimate my knowledge in the area of speakers. Will the first amp posted definitely power the speakers to their maximum potential through an aux lead, the source being an iPhone/Laptop headphone jack?

Cheers for the help guys.
