After selling my off roader and buying a road bike, just 6 months and the calling of the hills has won me over. SO the bandit 1200 has gone and theres a XR400 in its place. Is there anything I need to look out for especially on a xr 97 plate? Seems in good working order but any advice appreciated.

Thanks

Shem

Is the swing arm bolt welded in. Undo the nut and see if you can tap the bolt along a bit or if it's suffered the infamous seizure.

This. If you can take the bolt out completely and grease it up you should do so. My xr swing arm bolt is sitting in my garage. In five separate pieces!

Keep on top of the oil changes and regularly oil the air filter, other than that the xr's seem to run on unicorn farts and magic. Pretty bullet proof engines Thumbs Up

Excellent bikes.I have had mine for quite a few years now.

A decent bash plate and sprocket/disc guards are also a good idea

I've had a 250 and a 400, even both at the same time and didn't use the 250 once I had the 400.

The 400 can just chug along instead of having to rag up and down the gear box all the time.

Then I saw the light and got a two stroke Very Happy
