There is a bloke on a bicycle waiting to cross at a padestrian crossing.
Do you stop to let him cross?

doesn't matter if you're in a car or riding your motorbike

Rather slow down and stop / avoid than have a tangled up bicycle attached to my helmet.

Thumbs Up

Yeah I'd stop, he might be slightly retarded and not realise you're meant to ride on the road Confused

I dunno. I don't really care, I probably would stop though, I'm nice like that.

Which type of pedestrian crossing?

I assume you mean a zebra crossing, in which case you wouldn't have to stop until he had actually set foot (or wheel) on the crossing.

Me? I'd let him across.

the cycle lanes round here are all over the place, some crossings have green cycle man as well, some even have horses, some don't have either, some cycle paths are a couple of feet long and bump up the pavement, others seem to be put on busy roads where people park on them, and make no difference

I'd definitely stop, I've seen some cyclists start to ride over zebra crossings and then get off and push half way across! The most annoying ting is peds who stop and chat/wait at a zebra without intending to cross, but I still stop out of habit. Me and my son were crossing on foot the other day and a BMW just cruised across in front of us. He had time to stop, then thought about it, then sped up as if it was an amber light! Then waved his hand to apologise afterwards.

In the instant question, the answer is splunge.

Trick question. A padestrian crossing doesn't exist.

He rode upto the zebra crossing on the pavement, crossed on his bicycle and continued his journey on the pavement.
No cycle lanes involved.

There is a Zebra crossing not far from me, not far from the start/end of the B660, just by it is a bench, set into a recess of a wall, by a telephone box.

I know it's there now. But, drunkards sit there of an evening, sat back so you can't see them behind the phone box, and will seemingly just up and launch themselves across the zebra crossing, giving unwary motorists less time to spot them.

My pet hate are pedestrians who cross a few yards before, or after a pedestrian crossing.

As to OP question, it would depend if I can be bothered and if in summer and cyclist was a fit woman wearing skimpy clothes and resembling Alyson Hannigan (there's that Rogerborg mode kicking in again Wink ).

Why not? When I was a kid, I rode everywhere on the pavement, and only came off it if there was a pedestrian. Its less dangerous, and you're travelling at much more like the speed of a person than a vehicle.

Just seems like common sense to me.

The ones that piss me of are the cyclists who are in the road when there's a fucking cycle path running next to it. Approximately 5 miles of my commute has this, and yet the lycra tards still stay in the road.

The problem with cycle paths in this country though is that they tend to be very poorly designed, like dumping you in the middle of a junction or stopping randomly. So often cyclists end up having to use the road for their own safety

If they were concerned with their own safety, then they wouldn't use this particular 5 mile stretch of 40/60mph single carriageway, they'd use the fucking cycle path running right next to it. Worse than mopeds, at least they have no choice.

Speaking of this, why do we even have Toucan crossings? I've yet to see a cycle lane which goes right the way up to a Toucan crossing without making the cyclist encroach on the footpath at some point. The purpose of the Toucan seems like a total contravention of this law.

(Corrected to include the right bird)

Let them across, while shouting 'transgressor!'

I was a cyclist for years (still am now and again), pavement riding is OK if done respectfully and if the road is dangerous. I'd certainly get off to use a crossing though.

Why?

At least if someone cycles across they're going to clear the crossing quicker!

Well it's polite, I would feel as if I'm taking the piss riding across. Also a pushbike is more responsive when I'm on foot and pushing it - who knows, a motorbike might come through on the offside of any stopped vehicles.. Wink
