I saw this on my exhaust yesterday

https://i273.photobucket.com/albums/jj238/ben331/IMG_9406_zpsa66cc154.jpg

Now on Tuesday night my bike was parked at my TA centre, and when I came back to it the alarm LED was flashing crazily indicating the bike had been touched/moved, but after a brief glance I saw no damage (it was dark) so assumed it couldn't have been knocked over.

But yesterday I noticed the slight damage to the exhaust in the picture, and the bike is also making a slight clunking sound from down below the seat/tank somewhere. This is all since Tuesday night when I found the alarm blinking.

Is the damage to the exhaust just superficial? Still, it's annoyed me quite a bit! Someone f*cking hit my bike with something.

Exactly what I thought, but it's odd that they'd be so concentrated in that one single area.

That's what the TA call good grouping.

I would go down to that exact spot where you parked and carefully look for any pellets on the ground, I agree they look very much like airgun pellet marks, possibly someone aiming for the metal exhaust to make a nice sound on impact. Fortunately weren't malicious enough to shoot the plastic.

That rust patch wasn't there before! It was covered by the outer casing or whatever you call it. I thought someone had kicked it to break it off.

Obviously used a laser sight to get such a tight grouping.

Put it there again.

Listen carefully, call the cops, state somebody has a gun, police come shoot first putting a number of real bullets in the persons head and ask questions later.

Karma has taken its course....

Myself and almost everyone else would probably be shot by them if this happened Shocked

The pellet marks can wash off fine, but I'm really annoyed at the cracked part of the exhaust, it's really ugly.

Must have been firing from a fair distance if they are pellet marks, my spring .22 would have put decent dints in there. So actually decent grouping IMO.
But PLEASE clean it! Laughing

ehhh, roads are filthy at the moment and it's got ACF50 all over it which apparently makes dirt stick more. I'll clean it later.

I'd have thought pissing about with guns off the firing range carries some pretty strict penalties... Any CO you could talk to?

I'll mention it to the adjutant next week. It can't have been any of our guys though, we don't have any air rifles in our armoury.

Unless the airgun in question was running at silly power levels, your tyre would have been pretty safe.

If you shoot an inflated tyre with an airgun, the likely result is the pellet travelling straight back towards you almost as quickly as when you fired it. Rubber causes rebounds.

To me it looks like a bit of damage from ages ago which had been covered with filler, and the filler has now come off.

All the best
