My fingers get soo cold in the early morning ride or the late evening ride ride home from work. Looking into heated inner gloves, are they any good?

I have already brought a pair of thermal under gloves, and it not having any effect, unless the one i brought is shite.

Any advices?

First off try some latex gloves over the thermal gloves, these will make allot of difference (they should)

Heated grips are sometimes good but they are not a total soloution, electric gloves will be allot better i'd imagine... the problem with heated grips is you end up with burning hot palms and freezeing knuckles and fingers, get some varable ones though if you do, you wont allways want your hands cooking.

Heated gloves "should" heat the whole hand and hence be better...

Ive just yesterday put some motorcross brush guards on and they make allot of difference as they stop most of the wind chill, they defenately help...

Buy a Beamer with heated grips as standard. Wink Otherwise, thermal inner gloves inside a proper pair (entirely wind and waterproof) of winter gloves would do the job I would like to have thought...Thinking

Electric inner gloves would do the job pretty well too, it's just that much more hassle than buying a proper pair of winter gloves and putting on layers underneath. Neither of these is as much hassle as buying a beamer though I suppose. Very Happy

Problem with inner gloves is they go under your normal gloves (duh!).
But as your normal gloves are usually a good fit this just makes them tighter. The tighter they are the more problems you have with blood flow to your finger. So that's why they're just as cold.

Heated grips just heat the palms. They take time to heat through the leather of the normal gloves as well. Then if you take your hands off the grips the gloves cool down and you have to start all over again. That said I've got a set of the velcro on ones (hot hands?) to try. I'm told these are better if used together with off-road hand guards to stop the wind chill.

Heated gloves do heat the whole of the hand. You can also get heated inner gloves. Not cheap and need to be looked after.

Why not try a pair of the Hein Gericke Panthan gloves (look like crab claws, two fingers into one glove 'finger'). I find these work really well at keeping fingers warm.

Have you used google before? Try entering 'heated gloves' = this result

https://www.calamander.co.uk/heated/gloves/heatedgloveliners.htm
or
https://www.motorcycle-uk.com/giali/Gialiheatedclothing.html
or
https://www.brmc.co.uk/Klan%20heated%20clothing.htm
or
https://www.riderhouse.co.uk/main.htm

or if you don't want bike gear try
https://www.nauticalia.com/uk-info/clothing/accessories/battery-heated_gloves_&_socks/6497__L.html

Personally I'd go for Giali if I had to.
Remember with 12v heated stuff you'll probably want a thermostat and this is extra cost £30-£40 approx. Normally gloves/socks/etc are just on or off, which means they can get very hot and you have to turn them off. Thermostat allows you to vary the temerature.

Is your bike faired? A fairing makes a large difference to the chilled fingers problem.

All this heated gloves look fine, just look a hassel connecting it, you need to connect to the bike right?

Didnt know different bike would make a difference, but i have a cbr600.

Yeah a car is better always.

But i use a 2 sets of gloves thermal inner one and a heavier outer one.

Don't really have much trouble but if wind chill is getting to you, ya can always ride slower Laughing

Is the rest of you getting cold? If you can keep the "trunk" of your body warmer, it ought to mitigate the effect of the windchill on your extremities. Wear more t-shirts and jumpers Thumbs Up

i got a set of Motrax bar muffs the other weekend, coupled with some wind stopper hein gericke inner gloves I'm arriving at work after a 40 mile commute with toasty hands, I haven't bothered changing to my Panthans yet (still using my normal gloves), wearing the winter jacket or fitting my heated grips.
I am wearing extra layers though, t-shirt under the shirt and a jumper plus kidney belt

Very Happy

Not sure I like the idea of bar muffs as I don't want to feel trapped if you see what I mean. Almost stuck to the bike. Is it easy to take your hands out of is it awkward?

Was going to get heated grips but not sure now.

As zero said, motocross hand protectors are good. You can bodge them to fit on almost any bike and they are cheap.

I got some Gericke 'Master 4' gloves the other day. Warm as toast.

Electrically heated grips are apparently very good but they put a lot of strain on your charging system.

Fitted some Oxford ones to Charlottes bike yesterday. the packaging claims they only draw 2 amps. They are very warm.

All the best

ya do feel a bit trapped with the muffs but they only velcro shut and ya can get ya hands out the holes quickly anyway

The main prob I have at the mo is that anything over 75 and they put the front brake on with them blowing into the lever...I've set the lever span to 6 so that it doesn't do it as much...

I've used motoX hand protectors in the past on small bikes and they are effective, cheap and as stated easy to bodge fit due to soft plastic
Muffs are quite cheap if ya get the motrax or 2-wheels ones for around 20 quid. The only difference i can see between them and the more expensive Oxford ones is that the Oxfords have pop fasteners to hold the flaps around the mirrors

Just a note to say thanks for the recommendation. The gloves came in the post this morning. I can't believe I actually called my last pair winter gloves. Compared to these they were a light coating of snot after a tissueless sneeze. HG Master 4's; top stuff and, as you say, warm as toast. Thumbs Up

Last weekend (which was the coldest so far this winter) I went on a 140 mile trip to my mates in the sleet and rain. Anyway, it was cold. So, for no reason at all, I've written it up like a science report from school.

Aim: To buy a pair of thin chav-style gloves (they're cheap) and stick them under my usual winter gloves to keep warm.

Method: Stick chav gloves on, stick winter gloves on. Ride for 140 miles.

Result: Hands were still freezing and smelt like chav when i arrived at destination.

Conclusion: Buy proper thermal gloves and don't smell like a chav.

Hope that helps. This report is being forwarded to New Scientist magazine.

just fitted oxford hot grips myself, same ones as keith got i believe

easy to fit, and like he mentioned, supposed to be a low current draw, just a bit paranoid about some kind soul coming along and turning them on for me, gonna work out some kind of locking mechanism to cover the switch, or fit a relay in

but initial impressions were good, kept whole hands warm, arrived after 90 miles at 11pm, hands as warm as when i left, variable temp is damn good also, cos on slower roads, or villages, too hot can be too hot Razz

about these master IV gloves? whats the protection like, as thats the biggest issue for me? any armoured knuckles or anything?
