To buy or not to buy (eBay offer)

I nearly bought this... probably still could... but what do you think?

It failed to sell. I contacted the guy and made an offer. I offered £1,250 (full asking price!) but needed him to deliver it to me for that. He initially said yes and was up for the deal, but then realised his insurance run out so he couldn't. We agreed not to go ahead and I was torn, half of me wanted the bike still (does look a nice bike), the other half is thinking it's a 1991 VFR - maybe £1,250 was too much?

I placed a bid on another bike.

Now he's got back in touch again saying he's found a way he could deliver it to me again, so the initial deal could be on again if I wanted it. I don't really want to ask to cancel the bid I've currently put on another VFR though.

What would you do?

Do you reckon that's an alright deal for a 1991 VFR then?
That bike in that condition?

Eddie: Makes total sense, but I wouldn't be comfortable with knocking him down now after I already offered £1,250, even though it was him that had to reject that offer in the end. It'll be £1,250 again or nothing!

Front pipe looks shot and broken stud, good mileage, bit old, maybe a tad over priced but if he will deliver hey, he has gear you could flog, what's the other bike ?

I personally wouldn't pay that for a bike, in that condition, that old, with that many miles.

There are much better deals to be had and it's deffo seen better days.

Fair points.

I'll probably sell my CB500 in May when the insurance runs out;
By May I hope to have a bike that's a bit faster, with a screen, fairings to protect me a little better from the weather, and a Top Box

It needs to be reliable, and not too bad on fuel
Needs to be suitable for all year round riding

To be honest as soon as I read about the VFR it seemed to tick every single box and I was hooked... and I do prefer Honda... but would consider any suitable alternatives

I've got until the weekend to make my mind up!

second one seems nicer, if you could get that for the same price i'd get that, delivery these days isnt too bad,
vfrs are great bikes, very reliable while they are, extremly complicated when they're not

Second one seems better, can't tell much from pics, but still problem with exhaust, could be a 200 pound fix again, have you not considered a CBR 600 F ticks all your boxes, prob pay around the same money for one.

Screw touching a bike with a broken stud, let alone for that much! AVOID. The second one looks better IMO.

If its any help, I bought my vfr about 3 years ago off of ebay .
A 94( 3rd gen) with 28k miles in good nic for 1120.
So hang back and wait, there are always bikes being sold on ebay,
vfr's are over engineered and engines will last for ages
