Recomend me some boots to consider

Well Mrs Kwackerz and Kwackerz junior are treating me to the bike show for my birthday this week end and a new pair of boots to replace my sidi black rain's. Now I had intended on getting another pair of black rains as they are so comfy and waterproof, but since its been years since I've had to buy boots what else do the good folk here recomend? I'll be using them everyday for my commute as well as trips and fun the week end, good feel, waterproof, decent protection and above all comfy are my priorites along with no garish colours.

I can only recommend the boots I have, but I can VERY strongly recommend them.

Alpinestars SMX5 waterproof ones.

Amazing boots all round - waterproof, warm enough for winter rides, vented and cool in summer, served me very well (saved several fractures in foot/ankle), durable, good velcro, strong zip, comfy and they don't seem to smell too bad! lol

Great great boot + Goretex. They are superbly comfortable. So much so that I easily wore them riding to uni, wearing them through even longest day (9-6) and then riding back home in them. So all in all 11 hours solid with no problems at all. They are seriously that comfy.

Sidi Vertigos, or whatever superseded them, they do a waterproo version too.

Sidis fit me really well as I have wide feet, TCX/Alpinestars aren't as comfy on my feet. TCX do crash well IME.

I like my TCX S-Race GTX boots a lot. Not too garish in black, and I personally will never again buy a boot that's supposed to be waterproof if it isn't goretex.

The merely waterproof TCX boots I had before, weren't.

They have a slightly narrow sole though. Best try and fit them on if you can find em.

Alpinestar Tech 3s for me. Been off a few times in them, 5 years old and still in good useable condition. Tatty though, and not very waterproof. Plus an off-road designed boot. I'll always swear by them though, future purchases included.

Another vote for SMX5s. Comfy, they crash well and look good. I rode in the standard ones for 2 years, I put some waterproofing stuff on them and didn't really notice water getting in.

SMX5's are good for an everyday boot, I was impressed, only bought them because they were cheap.

I still love my Oxtar TCX's, but I did put them through the washing machine last week, they didn't like that so much.
