After reading about the Poor fella who died as a result of being in a collision with an off duty police erm, 'person', we have all witnessed fools on phones whilst travelling on our bikes.

So, my question is, what if these fools were recorded on a helmet cam, together with the vehicle registration and those details then forwarded to the police? Would the police take any notice? Could they prosecute based on non police video evidence?

Now, I'm not normally one for grassing people to the Feds, but if it saves a bikers life...... Sad

How are you going to "forward" it when you're dead? Or are you talking about grassing up virtually every car driver you capture on film?

If the data was in a recoverable state (I think only the memory card would have to be intact) then surely it would automatically be used in a police investigation?

This.

I guess I didn't make myself clear. Apologies.

I don't care how many times I need to drop tapes off to the Feds, as long as it gets results.

The thing that really gets me are the drivers in 40K + brand new cars that were too miserly to add a Bluetooth option.

You'd soon stop when you found you had to attend different Magistrates courts every week, for weeks on end, to prove where and when the footage was filmed.

Are you happy with drivers doing the same to you?

Getting 'reported' for anything a driver might think is dangerous?

Generally bikers do a lot more things that are actually safe but may be against the law or considered to be such given a certain point of view, I'd say.

This guy approves of this thread.

Nothing wrong with filming for purposes of protection and avoiding blame disputes in a crash but nobody likes a grass.

Now, now...let's not willingly turn this country into a full blown surveillance state, God knows we have enough of it already.

I have more to do with my life than grass-up every knob on a mobile but each to their own little pleasures, I guess.

That said if one was close to SMIDSYing me or driving like a dick around me I may be tempted to do 'something'. Not sure what in the cold-light of day.

He's the first thing that came to mind when I read the original post. I really don't record other bikers and grass them in for speeding or pull them over pretending to be a cop.

I spend my time on bike forums and use that to snitch instead. Twisted Evil

I would not think the Americans would give a five-knuckle-shuffle over what UK bikers do.! Shocked

Because that is where the 'Feds' are based. It's American slang for the FBI. You have been watching too many C list gangstah films. Rolling Eyes

And have the ability to kill bikers with absolute impunity. Mad

That's not entirely fair, pretty much anyone can slay us and get away with it on the flimsiest of pretexts.

Said it before, will doubtless say it again: nobody cares. We're subhumans kitten murders who ride everywhere at 150mph on the back wheel, and are clearly asking for it.

Disclosure: I asked my local Cunstabulary if they would be interested in receiving footage of tailgating drivers (my pet hate because it's so egregiously pointless) and their response boiled down to "Not really, no."

Have a read about him. He has various driving convictions and also served time for having a dodgy charity so he could play ambulance man.

https://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/News/newsresults/General-news/2009/July/jul16009-vigilante-biker-crashes/

He also gladly fucked his bike into a car. Laughing

EDIT: also he wasn't a CBT instructor. He only put that there so it was implied he had some sort of clue about what he was on about.

As a cyclist and having spent time on a few cycling forums, I know a few people who ride with cams in order to prove that they weren't at fault "he jumped the red light" being the usual way out.

To wear a cam to prove what happened since people are out to lie their way out of a claim, perhaps a good idea, some insurance companies in different places in the world, and the UK (normally young driver policies) require it.

I use a helmet cam for 2 reasons, the first being to watch cool videos of me doing wheelies at 200mph everywhere...and the other being to back me up should someone cause an accident.
