.
I have to set the scene for this one so bare with me.!

Last Thursday I was passing Halfords in the car so I nipped in and purchased a litre of oil for the bike to use as top-up between changes.

Went back to the studio and parked the car in the car park in the centre of town. I had come to work that day on my bike as I do as often as possible and the car spends most of it's time left parked at work. I forgot about the oil and left it in the car.

That same night I had run out of ciggs and used it as an 'excuse' for one of my late light rides (about an hour) to go and buy some. On the course of riding about I found myself not far from work, so I parked the bike up outside and had a smoke while still sat on the bike.

As I ride off I go past the car park where the car is still left parked. Get 10 yards past and remember the oil.! - Quick U turn around and pull into the car park and quickly collect the oil from the car, shove it inside my jacket and ride home. Very Happy

Bet you lot know what is coming don't you.? Wink

Today (Wednesday) I went out to do a job (in the car) When I get back boss says to me.

Boss "The police have been here to see you."

Me "Oh yeah" (It is not unusual for the police to call. The vast majority of my work involves imaging and dealing with the police, solicitors, barristers etc.)

Boss "Wanting to arrest you for theft" Shocked

Me "EH, WHAT THE FUCK"!!!!!

My mind flicks into overdrive. - I suddenly think OMG have I got petrol recently and just driven / ridden off without thinking.???

I stare at the boss blankly. - A knowing smirk crosses his face. **Giles relaxes. Go on says I what is the story.?

Story goes as follows :-

Police woman arrives.

PC "Are you the registered keeper of Jaguar ********"

Boss "Yes"

PC "Well I need to inform you that there has been a theft from that vehicle last Thursday night. Have you noticed anything missing" (turns out she had first called last Friday but unusually we were all out at the same time.)

Boss "No, but then I very seldom use that car"

PC "Can somebody check then please as we have a suspect and will go around to his house and arrest him tonight"

Boss then explains that someone presently is out in that car but will ask when he returns.

PC then goes on to say that the 'offender' was riding a motorbike. Rolling Eyes

Boss (cogs turn in his head) "Oh' I see - Do you have the registration number of the bike.?"

PC (proudly) "Yes we do" Smile

Boss "It wouldn't be the bike that is parked over there would it.?"

PC goes off to check reg No. of bike and returns.

PC "YESSSS IT IS.!!!!" Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Boss "It's Nick's car."

PC looks confused. Rolling Eyes

Boss "The bike belongs to Nick - The car is Nick's car. It's a company car so it is registered here but it's effectively his car."

PC "Sorry to have troubled you sir."

TBH though somebody either a member of the public or a CCTV operator did do the right thing reporting it as it was a strange and suspicious thing for somebody on a motorbike to have done.

Funny though eh.? Laughing

Annoying though that is it certainly instils a bit of faith in the police to do some things right, or at least satisfactorily.

Never mind, she'll probably nick-Nick for speeding or an undersized number plate to make up for it. Dance!

Well tbh I'm quite impressed.

I look at it from the view that if something was nicked from my car, and wasn't me tinkering, someone would have seen it and given the police a lead which they swiftly acted on. First for everything.

Thumbs Up Karma
