Whats peoples suggestions for a gaming headset for PC and XBOX?

Surround sound would be nice.

Looking around the £100 price mark.

Cheers peeps.

Turtlebeach X12's

Compatible with both...

Should be no more expensive than £50.

little bit of bodging required to get it working on xbox without shelling out for the audio cable (that you don't need)

That's if you want HDMI cable plugged in as you need the Component Cable for the X12's to work, so you select the Component channel and it will run of the HDMI though Smile

Not surround sound though without buying the Dolby processor seperate?

I have the X12's they're good, paid about £30, was no bodging my end to use it on the xbox Thinking

Edited post, have a check.

You either don't have HDMI cable plugged in, or you have the "Audio Cable" which isn't supplied by default with the X12's it seems Sad

HDMI check.
You mean for the red & white? I use cable that has red/white/optical that goes into the componant slot. I use that cause I sometimes stick surround on instead of the headset.

That being said, if he's on HDMI, surely he can just plug the red/white into the TV & get audio, but can't remember how it works. I know my mate mentioned before I got mine that he plugs it into the TV for the xbox.

That "Red/White Cable" you are on about is the "Audio Cable" I mention... Which doesn't come supplied with the X12s.

Did you buy that separate or did you get it with a bundle? Pretty sure I didn't get one with my Xbox when I bought it new.. Unless it did come with it and I've left it in the box as I never knew what it was for at the time... no idea Smile

Found a link.. seems it's just the older xbox's that only came with the basic component cable, the newer ones were supplied with the Audio Cable

Ah yes, got it with the slim xbox Smile

The ordinary componant lead with the original xbox though, although plugging the headset into it would be in reverse, wouldn't it still work? Hard to explain what I mean.

Normally that Audio Cable you'd plug the headset INTO it.
Whereas what I mean with the component, you'd plug that INTO the headset red/white cause Im sure it's got 2 ends.

You plug the component cable scart leads into the red and white scart leads you get with the X12's which plug into the tele,
There is a cable coming from the red and white scarts in the tele that you then plug the audio jack into and the microphone jack goes into your controller of choice.

I have it set up a bit weird though, that audio lead I'm on about, I have down at the PC which I swap from the sound card into the audio cable if I want to use the headset on the xbox, but the USB is still powered from the PC rather than plugging into the xbox... Just means I can't really use the microphone on the headset which isn't a problem as I don't really play LIVE at the moment Razz Easily unplugged and moved to the xbox though if needs be.

The cable from the scarts

Scarts etc with same cable as pictured above

The 3.5mm jack already plugged into the tele is actually plugged into my PC speakers Smile Rather use headset on the PC and better speakers for the tele.

Give that PC a clean! haha

I don't even use mine on the xbox anymore, prefer normal headset so I can take my pad/mic with me & let everyone hear me having a piss.

another vote for the x12. wasn't really sure then a mate came round with his. tried it out and was amazed. the sound quality is incredible for the price. around £40-45 in shops. or just pick one up from ebay for cheaps.

do like the look of hetzers choice, but doesn't appear to be xbox compatible (without delving in to research).
the x12 works fine for pc or xbox. plus has seperate audio feed for the game chat. where some of the cheaper ones dont so you'd get the game chat coming through mixed with normal game sound. which is pointless, like when you have it coming through your tv.

I only use a PC so can't say about consoles but I use a Plantronic 780 and really like it.

Comfortable and solidly built.

I bought a pair of cheap 4gamers headphones from Asda.
I also tried my mates Turtle Beach set and found no difference.
