Anyone had any dealings with this company? It could just be a one-off, but I've had nothing but trouble with them since November when I ordered some parts.

They said they'd dispatch the new parts in time for my next MOT, but when I chased them later they said "sorry, they're not in stock", hence I had to bodge up what was broken with tape and luckily it passed. Then they sent me the wrong parts, and when I returned them they only offered me a refund minus 15% "re-stocking fee", and minus another £12 for postage, even though I paid for the return postage. Cheeky feckers. To date they have not refunded me at all, despite me chasing them since December.

Just parts. Haven't been refunded yet so I am reluctant to identify my order in case one of the employees is on this forum! In my experience people like that only need a tiny excuse to cause you enough grief in the hope that you'll give up and not pursue it. I will of course pursue it, it's the principle involved, not the money.

How did you pay? There are minimum limits on both the credit and debit card chargeback schemes, but you don't ask, you don't get.

You'll likely find the first three people that you speak to at your bank or card issues will deny knowledge or permission, but stick with it. It's going to be easier than the other route, which is Letter Before Action and a small claim.

I also like that review of Avon Motorcycles Bristol at https://www.avonmotorcyclesbristol.co.uk and wish it good luck in moving up the search rankings.

I also agree it could do with getting up the search rankings. 2nd place seems way to low for that useful site.

Credit card. The bloke acknowledged that he remembers the order and I had is word that he would action the refund via the finance department "today". That was 2 months ago - lucky I remembered. Probably he just forgot, but it's worth mentioning I think as a potential warning to others.

if you've paid with a credit card, you should be covered by section 75.

Worth a try?

section 75 indeed, but only if the order was over £12, and i believe as per distance selling regs they would be obliged to refund you (if returned in the correct time) and as part of this (i believe last year it was identified that they MUST even refund you the delivery charge) and as per restocking fee. tell them to sling it give you your money, or take action.

thanks for the info. I have just been told that my refund (less re-stocking charge and postage) will be issued today. Bad news - just found out the owner is my mate's brother = google hits showing the complaint site is my fault. Oh dear. oh dear oh dear.

Apart from when you Google www.avonmotorcyclesbristol.co.uk/ the post that shows up for www.avonmotorcyclesbristol.co.uk/ is your post pup. So it doesn't really show the problem someone is having with www.avonmotorcyclesbristol.co.uk/ just that you have quoted www.avonmotorcyclesbristol.co.uk/ in your post

So you're being charged for them sending you the wrong items later than promised?

see above, it's his own fault for buying a business from someone folding up a dodgy dealing business and continuing to be useless.

don't see how it's your fault.

So is it safer to buy with credit card when I let's say go into a shop and buy it there or does the section 75 apply only when you buy online or over the phone?

I'll be paying by cash.. but I may as well pay by credit card. Whichever is safer.

That Avon Motorcycles Bristol reminds me a bit the Midlands Superbikes type of business.

Section 75 applies to all credit card purchases, between £100-£30,000.

Technically, you can pay a £10 deposit on you cc for, say, a 5k bike, and the rest in magical paper with queeny's face and be covered for the full 5k under section 75. You might have to fight your cause in cases like that though.

You have better protection with credit cards with section 75 than you do with debit cards and their chargeback scheme. For one, section 75 is law, chargeback isn't.

Oh, I'm no expert, it's always worth doing your own homework to make sure!

With Visa Debit they actually give you the same protection for card purchases as you have with their credit cards.

I looked on the Avon website... Instantly know they are cheap cunts and would avoid like the plague, and I'm talking the official site not the warning one.

I have the experience of buying a Pulse 250 cc knock about , bike looks great but after only 600miles bought in March this year, the bike has died, no pulse in fact no spark at the plug at all.
The electrical circuit diagram at the back of the users book is absolutly crap ,can't see the colour letters let alone follow the circuit .
As I can't get the bike to Avon m/c ,rang Merion Guyon the manager,
( see www.avonmotorcyclesbristol.co.uk/ )
He promised me he would send me a readable copy ,
Week later nothing .its not rocket science ! I know the bikes cheap but I did expect it to go more than 600miles , and I did expect more help to get the bike going than has been offered .
The CDI has no live at all to it, cant follow the diagram ,so don't know which of the 6 wires should be live ,anyone can help?
As for Merion Guyon ,I will keep you posted, so far so bad.
