Was about to buy a bike on ebay and leave a deposit but decided to do HPI, MOT history check and check if it was taxed.

The bike currently is advertised as having just short of 8000 miles

Just checked 2011 MOT history at 7,650 Miles:-

Steering headbearing has excessive free play (2.2.2)

All Direction indicator flashing more than 120 times per minute (1.5.1c)

Swinging arm Rear suspension bush has excessive free play (2.4.A2a(i))

Rear Registration plate characters incorrectly spaced (6.3.4a)

Offside Front Footrest insecure (6.2.1a)

Rear Brake pedal insecure (3.1.2a)

Advisory Notice issued

Rear Exhaust noisy (7.1.2)

Throtel cabel damaged and rooted wrong **DANGEROUS**

Just checked 2012 MOT history at 7,951 Miles:-

Rear shock link Rear suspension bush has slight free play (2.4.A2a(i))

Slight oil leak **DANGEROUS**

Rear brake fluid on min **DANGEROUS**

Thats seems a lot of faults for a bike thats only covered 8000 miles? The Swinging arm Rear suspension bush failed the MOT at 7,650 miles and then failed again the year after at 7,951 Miles!

Surely there must be something wrong there?

Some of the faulty are not an issue but some of them are a bit worrying

Not too sure i want to make a trip to see the bike after seeing this as i have had 30+ bike and never seen an MOT fail sheet this bad especially for 8000 miles.

Should i link the ebay advert on here? The bike was advertised as "never missed a beet". What exactly is a Beet and would you guys suggest it has missed one from the MOT history?

I know most people dont do the research when i buying bikes and i dont want someone to end up with a dud as the advert seems to look like its a cracking bike.

A point to note is that the seller may have resolved all the issues and the bike may be amazing condition but it does seem strange its not been ridden since the mahoooooooosssssiveeeeeee list of MOT fails.

What you think?

£1850 gixer600 k1 that looks tidy. But the owner suggested he never had any issues with the bike in the past 4 years he owned it.

If i had them issues with any of my bike i would open the fuel cap, push the bike on it side and light a match and burn it with the rest of the rubbish.

Seems like a nice bloke though, but i will be riding the bike and not him.

Call him and just ask him what the crack is? Why did he tell you it was sweet and never missed a beat yet a year earlier it was fucked. The worse that will happen is he will hang up and then you know not to buy it.

Most of 2011's problems could have been down to badly fitted aftermarket parts and a strict tester.
Indicators, rear sets/foot pegs, small reg plate, race can.

It may only have low mileage but it's still 12 years old and most of the problems seem to be seals and bushes. My bike is a little older but it seems that every MOT it needs something or other replacing.

I see what your saying but i have MOT'd a bike 30+ time and only ever had the odd fail or advisory.

ex-track bike

clocks not original, not had mot until 2011, footrests loose due to rearsets previously fitted, indicators lost and LED's now fitted with incorrect relay, noisy "race" exhaust, throttle cable poorly routed due to race clip-ons being replaced several times,

This seems very plausible, 300 miles in a year and still wearing stuff out?

Must have lead a very hard life.

I go with my gut on these things, if you aren't sure about it (regardless of how affable the seller seems) walk away, there's always another one.

I went to the same MOT guy for three years on the run when my owned from new bike was due for it's MOTs. the advisories got more outrageous each time, all were fishing for work, all could have been dangerous if true, the last couple of MOTs I have had done I went to a guy around the corner and the bike flew through the tests A1.
The first guy did the MOT behind closed doors and curtains, the second guy did it there infront of you and even asks you to help move the bike (Varaderos are heavy) The first guy has now closed down. All the things that the first guy advised about have not been touched except the brake pads, but thats a given anyway.
I would speak to the owner, challenge him on the points and get a feel for it before paying any cash.
