I'm kinda against them, for the simple reason I love the sounds of the combustion engine and the fact that the noise they make can save lives - being 'silent' makes us IMHO more prone to injuries and deadness.

But:

(the rider seems 'good' but the bike being so light explains the ability to beat the pack - I like how at 2:30 the guy in front just 'flops' over)

Lack of gears is 'odd', although with these an average trip from Leeds to Norfolk at what; 2p a mile? with an overnight charge to refill sounds appealing.

Seems they're coming along Thinking

That certainly looks a usable bike, and running costs will be low - not just fuel but servicing I expect.
The problem comes when the batteries start the inevitable decline after 2 or 3 years.
Maybe eventually you will be able to plug in an exchange unit yourself from M&P and it will seem reasonable.

Note the charger is rated at 1200watts so you will notice this if charging every night.

Quote:
Please keep in mind that most household electricity circuits are rated to 110V/15A, which can only support a single charger. As a result, in order to make use of Zero’s quick-charge accessories, you must plug each charger into a separate 110V/15A circuit. If connecting to any other, higher-rated household circuit, you must make sure it can safely support the load of each of Zero’s 1,200W input chargers.

That's an eco-subsidised price as well. They might make financial sense if you do a fuckton of miles, which you axiomatically can't do because of the limited range.

Also, would you buy one used, knowing that if and when the battery dies that it'll cost you more than you paid for the vehicle to replace it?

I'm not averse to the idea, but we're still at least another generation from them making financial sense for most owners, let alone ecomental sense since we still get most of our leccy from burning fossil fuels.
