Is this general bike chat? I'm a biker and I think it's biased that you post in here when it's not general bike chat about bikes

personally i don't think it matters, if you've been here more then three minutes you know there are people who give sound advice on bikes, legal matters and technical know how
you know those who are out for a bit of fun
you know those who are expert welders
and you know krad who really doesn't fit into any of the above

you don't need karma to find out wether you will listen to somone and really i don't think people care as much as you make out.

-imminant Kar-mah rhaype from BCf massif for saying that i don't care about karma
- imminant karma rape because i own a plastic 125

The karma system's FUBARed anyway. People like JiveBunny join and get hundreds of bad karma:

https://i45.tinypic.com/2v2azih.png

Page upon page of neg ratings

And that all gets counteracted just because they post a lot in workshop. You could see him on one green and a day later he'd be on three green despite getting only more bad karma in that time, why? Cos he posted a lot (of crap). He's not far off a GOLD now despite the fact he practically only receives Neg karma. It's broken I tell you.

Can someone tell me why this was moved to feedback and help and not random banter would this have happened if I was one of the chosen few.

Bit paranoid? You posted in general bike chat which it isn't so no surprise it got moved. If you wanted it in random banter you probably should have posted it there yourself?

Because you have a question about a mod and the karma system it should go in forum feedback and help.

The irony is that the fact your thread was moved you lose karma for that. Smile

The post was moved to Forum Feedback and Help because you are asking for Feedback on the forum.
A good proportion of the posts in Random Banter shouldn't be there - it's basically a 'last resort' for a post that doesn't fit in any other section of the forum.
Dear Auntie BCF would have been more appropriate than Random Banter as you were asking a question and that's the section to ask questions in.

And this is perhaps the issue.

I cannot revoke 'karma'.

I do revoke post ratings which do not fit the post ratings guidelines.

The relationship between ratings and karma is not direct as far as I know.

Did you read the post rating guidelines before you rated?

I suspect it was likely you chose either 'Abusive' or 'Spam', yet the post did not match the guidelines for these ratings:
Quote:
Thumbs Down This post is Abusive:
Use this reason when a poster uses extremely bad / racist language in an attack on another user, or gets way too personal in an argument.

I do not consider 'scum' to be extremely bad nor racist language.
Nor does it sound like the post was either an attack on another user specifically, not getting way too personal in an argument.
Quote:
Thumbs Down This post is SPAM:
Use this reason only if you spot a blatant piece of unsolicited commercial advertising, similar to what you would term junk mail.

I will consider any requests for revoking ratings, whoever it comes from - generally ratings are revoked because someone mentions it to me in a PM (often not the person who's post has been rated.)

If I see a post with a big red blob that I don't think deserves a particularly harsh ratings, I'll investigate - but generally it's other people mentioning it to me.

There's only one request for revocation that I haven't been diligent with recently - I was about to refer to the ratings guidelines, but I read the guidelines myself and decided from that it was a little more complicated than I had at first thought.
The half written private message sat in my firefox for a couple of weeks before it was lost on close and I forgot to do 'restore previous session'.

Feel free to link me to the post you rated and I'll advise of the rating.

I don't see what all the fuss is about... FFS - BCF Karma doesn't pay my mortgage and isn't going to give me cancer.

Calm down people... It's only a forum! Wink
