Sat at a set of lights just before old st roundabout (London) heading towards moorefields eye hospital, its a busy route with lots of cycles, motorbikes etc, here we can use the bus lane but I prefer not to due to all the cycles taxis and buses. Anyway I get to the front bar one car from the outside and slot in nice and neatly not offending anyone, on my left in the bus lane theres a black cab, to his right about 5-6 cycles so he is boxed in pretty well, a guy on a scooter then filters up the inside of the taxi and sticks his bike just in front of the taxi but at an angle. I'm watching for the lights to change when I hear this screaming and banging noise, I turn to see that the scooter rider was banging away on the bonnet of the taxi and screaming at the driver, turns out the cab driver had rolled forward and stoppd right on top of scooter mans foot Shocked now accsident or on purpose I dont know, anyway after more banging on his window by the cyclists he moved back and got out to talk to the rider. Dont know what happened after that as when lights changed I had to move off with everybody else, when stopped at roundabout a guy on a fazer pulled up beside me and said, did you see that? woudn't of felt it if he was wearing alpinestars! I just creased up, expected him to call the cabby all sorts but thats what he came out with. Oh well thats my little story of the week.

Had my foot run over, my grandad had his run over by my mother and I ran over a mate of mine's foot (and then backed into him with the open door). In all cases it was only temporary pain and a bit of shock (not in the medical sense).

O.K. time for my little foot being run over story.

I'd filtered almost to the front of a couple of stationary lines of traffic and had stopped alongside a very large, very new Merc. When the lights change the effer moves left (in what I believe was a deliberate act to block my progress) and runs over my foot. I catch up with him and give his rear passenger door a good kick with the side of my very heavy duty boots. The metal doesn't just crease but actually splits.
He pulls over, as do I, he then jumps out and we both start effing and blinding at each other. The moron then clocks me one on my 'chin', except I'm still wearing my helmet (full face). He then starts jumping around clutching his hand and screaming. I am now laughing so hard all my anger had gone and so I just get back on the bike and ride off.

Then he'd probably get better steel toe capped boots, as this sort of thing is exactly what they're designed to prevent Wink.

I've twice had car drivers trap my foot with their front wheel - both with army boots on and I wasn't badly hurt in either case - but not the full weight of the car on my foot).
One the person was trying to block me I believe - the other just wasn't paying attention really.

Comprehensively Mythbusted: enough force to crush the cap would have turned your toes to pulp anyway.

I'd lay money that the cabbie did it on purpose for reasons of pure vindictiveness, and feel compelled to note that you didn't "have to" move off. You could have pulled over and got all witnessy up in their bidness.

Would have been about a hundred yards maximum from my office. That's all.

Try doing it under a lorry, you won't be giggling then lol
The fact is most accidents involving bikers with lower leg injuries have had an impact from the side, not the top. Steel toecaps are not much use then, more of a danger, a friend of mine had to have his fireboot cut off his foot (the steel had collapsed around his toes) after just such an accident, which broke just about every bone in is foot.

This ^^^
There is NO problem with anyone pulling over and offering help at an accident scene unless the auld Bill are waving you through of course.

Even if there already are a bunch of folk there already. Who knows which if any are even first aiders etc.? If you think you can help then by alkl means stop.

Oh and + 1/4 million joules on the toe-cap stuff too. Very Happy

Mmmm, firstly I didn't see it actually happen , so no good as a witness, secondly there was plenty of folk already assisting so no point more folk getting in the way, blocking traffic even more and causing a further hazzard, thirdly I'm not first aid trained so would of been no use. If I thought I could help I would, makes me laugh when these type of comments start coming out, you had to be there and make a judgement call at the time, sometimes too many people being involved is detremental to the situation.
