I started this ages ago and have only today put it all back together as I wanted. The old 5 3/4" round headlight has been removed from the CG and replaced with an 8" unit from a Suzuki Bandit 600 (Yes 8" Shocked)

Obviously it was too big to fit between the mounting points on the forks so I had to make two brackets to increase the width and move the headlight forward so as not to foul on the instrument cluster. It isn't perfect by any means, the headlight could go backwards about an inch for starters with a different bracket type but it works alright as it is. I had this mounted late last month but I have only this week sanded back the dodgy paintwork and sprayed it stain black inside and out. At the same time I ripped out all of the old pre-insulated bullets and replaced with non-insulated crimps that have been crimped with the proper tool for the job, the connections are much more solid so hopefully no more wire falling out Laughing

Only issue is that there is actually less space inside the bowl for wires to sit than the old unit, this is due to the large and deep reflector which houses the 35/35w H4 halogen bulb so everything is sort of squashed up against the rear of the bowl. I will find some way to sort this out eventually but the tangle of wires that come together in this one location is astonishing and a bugger to find space for (for me anyway Embarassed )

The big bonus now with this new unit fitted is that I can actually ride at night without requiring the powers of telepathy to see what was 30 feet ahead Laughing This is by far the best thing that I have added onto the bike (followed closely by muffs!!!)

Yeah they are great lights. The only better lights I can think of is the standard zzr600 headlight, and even better is a bmwgs 800 headlight.

It looks alright too. Thumbs Up

My Honda CBF600N had an identical looking headlight if anyones looking for alternatives to DIY fit themselves. It was the best headlight I have ever used at night.

Yeah the bike is looking a little rough around the edges at the moment, the damage to the mudguard is from when I binned it back in October. I must get round to repairing or replacing that before my MOT in July as the examiner may not like it.

Bizarrely, I have a mudguard from a BR-J in my garage that I got as part of a job lot. It has been sanded, ready for painting, so would need that doing, but otherwise as far as I recall it's in alright nick. Drop me a PM if you're interested. I wouldn't want much for it at all. Thumbs Up

As requested, pics of brackets below. Rough and ready but they do the job alright. I'll sort a better solution before I sell it.

BTW thanks for the offer on the mudguard but Blurredman gave me a spare when I bought the bike from him as the old one was cracked any way, I have just never bothered to fit it. It is black so would need respraying to match the bike, which I will do in time.
