I have a WR250 that requires new tyres. I know its not really possible to change tyres on a sports bike as they are sealed to the rim and need balancing.

But.....

Surely the tyres on the WR250 with the inner tubes are just a bigger version of a mountain bike tyres and dont need balancing.

I go through a rear tyre on the wr250 about every 3 months or 500 miles before i need new knobbles.

The tyres are only £40.00 and it would seem such a shame to pay a garage to do it when i am fit and healthy and have the spare time.

Maybe buy these?

Has anyone else done it there self and was it a ball ache?

I recently changed the front tyre on my dominator. It was just like changing a bicycle tyre but obviously a bit more pressure required to get the new tyre over the rim. I used cheap tyre levers and soap. This was my first time changing a motorcycle tyre and it was straightforward. I say go for it

I say give it a go. Done a few myself, find that 3 tyre levers is a lot easier than 2. May just be me though.

Just be careful not to pinch the inner tube. I have done it a few times and while it can be a pain in the arse it is a fairly simple process. There are video's on youtube that show you how to do it, like this one for example.

Give it a go!

That. This has provoked blind rage on a few occasions. Other than that it's a piece of piss provided you've got decent size tyre levers, just like a big MTB tyre as you recognised Thumbs Up

Takes a little getting used to, but worth doing so.
Here's a standard guide below.
