Allot of drivers in my area tend to indicate and change directions in one single motion.
Whenever this happens, I just say to myself 'imagine if i was overtaking'. Now say for example i was lining up for an overtake then the driver of a car indicates and moves with one motion, would blame be split between the driver of the car and the rider of the bike? Since one could argue the rider should not be overtaking at a junction :s.

There would be no argument, if you overtook at a junction and collided the car driver would just cunt you off and say he was indicating and that you're just another dangerous arsehole on a bike.

Don't overtake at junctions, be wary of overtaking when you think the vehicle you are about to pass may also overtake.

I've seen a good few people today be really bad with indicating. There was a van that indicated, came to a crawl on the main road, and then decided it wasn't his turn so took off when the car in front of me when to go around.

Another guy was sat in the main road indicating right as I was approaching. I thought he was waiting for traffic before turning off, so didn't brake as he had plenty of time. As I came up behind him he decided to sit there and I had to brake really hard to stop myself hitting him. Then he cancelled his indicator and carried on going straight.

I was tempted to boot the shit out of his car. It's been pretty poor for the standard of drivers on the road today. Ultimately you have to look out for your own safety, if I'd ran into the back of him, it would've been my own fault. Expect the unexpected, and don't try to overtake at a junction.

If the car driver hasn't indicated BEFORE the manoeuvre, he's to blame.
I'd er on the side of caution though, especially as you know an accident is likely to happen.
Blame would be no comfort to me.

Answered your own question.

Whilst there are some cases where car driver has been found at fault for not giving adequate indication, it's not really much of a saving grace when you're laying on a spinal board.

On a milk float or a hearse?

The answer is potato, it's entirely dependent on the circumstances.

Never let yourself get in a position to find out.

People these days don't know it should be to indicate the intention of making a manoeuvre but to show you that they are doing to as obviously a 2 ton lump of metal crossing your path is hard to see without an amber light flashing.

A bit extra though. I see less bikes indicating than cars, are people really that stupid and incapable of riding that switching on an indicator is beyond their abilities?
