I've seen these rider to pillion intercoms around but I don't know if they're any good. Can anyone tell me if they are worth getting? Also one they'd recommend. If I plan on taking long trips with a pillion, I'd rather we were able to at least have some kind of communication with each other.

Cheers!

Me and some of my mates were thinking of getting something like this, like what the instructors have, but all with mikes so we can abuse each other out on the road Laughing

They're supposed to be good as they don't need radios.
If you do want radios it's gonna get expensive. Stoo and myself tried some, but we had issues.

yep, very good, i recommend getting the background noise reduction ones though, as the ones we use can get a bit loud at times.

I use Autocom stuff and its wicked, never had any prob's. It's great gear I can listen to MP3's talk to my pillion and speak to my mate on the bike behind plus if my phone rings i can answer that too! You can have a sensible conversation at over 100 mph Laughing Autocom's bods have it all well sorted no one else even comes close to their gear, trust me I've tried and cried over a lot of other stuff. Yes it might cost £200 + but once you try it you know its worth every penny! Smile

hmm i would advise you stay away from the cheap stuff, me and my mates invested in some cheap radios with vox and mics and earphones and anything over 30mph was just filled with wind and engine noise, certainly worth spending the cash on a decent set in my opinion

That Autocom gear sounds good - once we've got two bikes we're going to get something like that too.

What is the distance range between the parties?

I use the BT-Highway walkie talkies. They are superb hand sets, even have neat little feature like built in FM radio so you can listen to your favourite radio station and the other user cuts over it when they key their set. You can also lock them so only the mic key works, very handy.

Not found the bike headset for it yet though, the mobile phone style earpiece is useless for on a bike.
