Hi all I am riding a 125cc and when i am coming to a set of lights and change from 3rd to 1st normally it is idle at 2000 revs but at the lights it stays around 3500 to 3000 revs is this normal it slows if i let out the cluch sorry new to this thanks all.

When you set the idle speed was the engine hot? If not take the bike for a ride to let it warm up and then set the idle speed at what the manual specifies. If that doesn't solve it you could have an air leak, spray wd40 around the carb area if the revs change you have an air leak in that area.

Its a keeway rkv 125cc, i wouldent know how to set the idle speed, i have checked the manual but has nothing about it in there (theres not much in there tbh) i am looking at doing my full licence as soon as im 24 but for the time being its a great bike. Just would this cause damage taking for service end of the month thanks again sorry for being a bit thick.

Edit - It can happen at any time not all the time even when being out for 2 hours.

Get them to look at it when it has a service. Idling at 3000rpm isnt going to hurt the engine. Or if you're really worried, take it back sooner if its still under warranty. Its chinese, so just be grateful its still running, and ride it.

Cheers for the advice as long as it wont damage it i will wait for the service, 2 of my friend have keeways and they are 09 plates and from new never had an issue i asked them and the just said rev and let it settle hopefully mine last as long with no issues because it is comfortable to ride for long stretches. Thanks again.
