Well the Hyosung Comet is falling apart Sad only had it say 4-5 months. The lock for the pillion seat don't work and after yesterday the rear shock absorber has died so its just working on the spring Sad the engine isn't feeling to fantastic either but then I have been riding it a little hard lately. Also I'm skint so I can't afford repairs and a service so i'll have to borrow more money off my parents Sad

Just looking forward to the day I get to do my test so I can get a decent and more reliable bike.

I hate the winter Sad

What about your warranty 4-5 months bikes shouldn't really have many problems, though you may be a bit unlucky as i've read a few reviews of the comet and they said build quality was good!

On a bit of a gamble I typed the URL https://www.hyosung.co.uk and came up with StartRight dealers and a link to the importers.

Why not give the importers, Bavanar Products ltd, a call and see if they can help/advise. Tel: 020 8665 9994. If they're serious about customer satisfaction and establishing Hyosung they might have a look at your problems. What have you to loose?

HTH Smile

This post has me a bit worried now, so far my Comet hasn't been too bad with just one or two minor faults.

Mines got its 4000km service coming up soon so I'll be able to check on its overall status then.

Cause it doesn't help having hit that oil/diesel patch sliding off down the street Sad Thumbs Down

I am sorry to hear that and all I can say to make you feel better is hang in there soon you will have the bike you really want before you know it, I was riding a 1990 ZZR 250 that I bought for $1500 and it was crashed on both sides and burnt quite a bit of oil but somehow managed to sell it for $2000 a year later! maybe it is time for a polish and sell it before it is too bad to get a good resale value it is winter over there and it is too cold to ride anyway Thumbs Up

Yeah its still under warranty the only problem is I have been in touch with hyosung and the nearest place to me that they can fix the bike is Croyden Sad and I live in NW London, The was a place in Ealing but it has shut down. Monday its going to a garage to get the rear shock fixed, the lock on the pillion seat fixed and a service (its only done 2500km but what the hell might aswell have someone have a decent look at it.) I might get in touch with the importers and and see if I can get it fix somewhere here and they foot he bill, probably won't happen but its worth a try.

malb does you engine sound a little rough some times? mine sounds fine in the morning and then in the afternoon it sounds really odd as if the engine is struggling?

Sorry to hear you're having probs with you're bike mate,to be honest mine is 100% perfect,I've managed to sort out the problem with the carbs having a flatspot thanks to the advice I got off a couple of guys here and it seems to pull away far better than it did before. Smile

I've had to use my bike all this week to get to work and back because the bloody gearbox packed up on my van last sunday,my route to work is 20 miles of A and B roads with about a 5 mile blast of dual carriageway too and to be honest the bike has done brilliantly in all weathers (it was friggin cold this morning though!) the only problem I had was a puncture on the front half way home one night but I managed to get it into a garage to blow it up and it got me home ok,I had to have a new tyre fitted which cost £52 but hey...shit happens!

Neglect maintenance and repairs, and your 'decent and more reliable bike' won't be. It'll just cost you more.

Hyosungs DO seem to be a bit hit and miss unfortunately, I've heard one comet 250 that had 5, yes 5 speedo cables replaced in under a year.

They're neglecting build quality a bit, and they SHOULD be buil;ding up their customer base with good vibes....

don't worry I have enough for chain oil and the like its just the big bill for fixing what evers wrong with it at the mo I don't have money till the end of the month.

When its sorted I might have a go at the flat spot, but I'll wait till it warms up hehehe what tires have you had fitted ade067? I want to get mine changed at some point because the rear tire doesn't feel that nice in the wet (and yes there is loads of tread left on it.)

Well I'm going to phone bavanar today and find out what there customer service is like, wish me luck Smile

Have you tried spraying wd40 in the lock??

My stepdads 406 which he owned from new has started to develop a few faults, the remote central locking broke twice and when we tried to use the locks on the door, they just spun round and round with no resistance. A bit of WD40 fixed em.

The needle jets just needed a bit of adjustment...although I will own up to getting a bike mad mate to help me,all those springs and screws were just waiting to go missing if I attacked it all by myself. Very Happy

How did you get on with Bavanar mate? I contacted them a few months ago when my local dealer closed to find out where I can get my bike serviced and they were very helpful to me.

It was just the front tyre I had to change mate the rear one is still fine and has hardly any signs of wear yet.The tyre I got for the front is an Avon HKM AV51 the tyre dealer said that it would be perfectly compatible with the rear and it feels ok to me so far, when my rear tyre is worn out I will get the matching Avon tyre for the rear, the tyre dealer has quoted me £62 for that one and that includes a new valve and wheel balancing which sounds a fairly good deal to me and Avon are a well known brand.

You can check out the tyres on Avon's site here... https://www.avonmotorcycle.com

Well like I say they've been good to me so far, even before I bought my bike I contacted them for some info and I had a few leaflets and a price list in the post the very next day, they also seem to answer their emails very quickly too.

The rear shock absorber problem seems to be a very common problem on Comets,I've been looking at a few messages on the Comet 250 owners group on Yahoo and it seems lots of people have had trouble with them ( https://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/Comet250Owners ) there is also a 125 owners group but its very quiet there at the moment as the group has only just been setup.Perhaps they've had a faulty batch or something, you shouldn't have any trouble getting that changed under warranty.

I've not had any problems with my engine like you describe though and it certainly doesn't sound like its struggling even though I'm not exactly the lightest of people so perhaps it should be struggling to pull my weight!! I'm not trying to insult you here but could it be anything to do with the way you ride it? nothing will last for long if its screamed all day!

Mine like Malb's is also due a 4000km service soon but I'll try and keep the mileage down until after xmas due to lack of funds!

I must admit I was a little hard on my bike the other week out of sheer frustration from stupid drivers and filtering. Also when I was riding my bike back from southampton it was medium to high reving for a whole 2 hours which didn't do it any good Sad

yeah bavanar also answer there e-mails very quickly which is good Very Happy but tomorrow I'll find out if theres anywhere I can take my bike to be fixed.

High revs for 2 hours is hard work for such a little engine,I've been on fairly long journeys with mine but I usually try and stop after half an or so of riding to give the engine a break. (and so I can have a smoke or a drink!) I want my bike to last so I try and treat it with a bit of respect...it cost me a lot of money!

yeah I stopped after 1 1/2 hours on the way back, but still didn't do it any good Sad

I phoned Bavanar and they said the nearest place I can take the bike to is Croyden. Not good with a broken shock Sad they also said if I can get the rear shock off myself they will post me a new one. Wish me luck I'm going to get my hands dirty Razz

O bugger I have to ride to Croyden on a broken shock now Sad Theres no way I can get it out because I have nothing to stand the bike on when its removed. But I phoned them back and they said I can take it down next monday (fingers crossed the weather will be fine) and they said they can do it in about 1-2 hours Very Happy which is good.

Gave the bike a little run today and the engine feels quite nice so maybe it was just the cold mornings. But I don't think I'll be going over 40 as the back feels like jelly Sad
