Hello

My exhaust fell off last week making it very loud, when I found the cone part that fell off it was pretty mangled up which mean I need a new one. Now I've seen there are pattern parts which are a bit cheaper

Now do these patten parts just rust away or are they ok ? And also apart from the genuine one on David silver spares the mounting points only have one hole and not 2 like mine

Thanks

It'll last longer than you plan on keeping the bike, rusting however depends entirely on where the bike is stored.

It will be stored in a bike shed at night but I will be using it in most weathers , will a pattern part be ok if I paint it in vht black to stop it rusting, or just buy a genuine one to start with ??

My first bike was a CG, exactly the same model as yours, can't remember, might have been a J reg. Good little bike to start out on though!

i think collets are ok to reuse but get a copper gasket

they squish as you fit them so are non-reusable Wink

What a pain that was, nice and easy to get the old one out so I start putting the new one on and I'm tight inc the bolt up ON the other side of the bike and snap the stud has about half left so there I am hammering away trying to get it to sit closer so I can just get a few threads on but no wasn't having any of it in the end I took the collets off and re used the old gasket then once they were in I shoved the collets in on top of the gasket thing that squashes the gasket hammered it in then it was leaking a bit and luckily I had a bit of firegum left chucked a load of that on and seems to be holding but I will have to see how it goes, this bike is falling apart on me indicator hanging off l plate falling off exhaust , what next! Now what's the long term to solution to fix the stud? Weld another one on or a new barrel???

Niether.!

Drill the old stud out. Fit a helicoil and job will be as good as new. Very Happy
