Hi guys, i'm wanting rid of my TT and want another classic, I've been looking at z650's in particular.

Does anyone know if these are good reliable bikes? It will be a daily rider so cant really afford it to keep breaking down ect.

And if anyone is selling one, let me know Very Happy

I had one back when they were new, the C3. If you are getting one for practicality, get the C version. Triple disks and mag wheels. The B had a single front disk and wire wheels.

I suppose it was a poor mans Z1 but I loved mine. I never had any problems with it, but it was new then. Wouldn't mind another.

Thanks. I have my eye on one on ebay, https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/181082303097?_trksid=p5197.c0.m619

Im not sure what model that started as, but it looks great.. I even offered a straight swap for my tt.. But he values his bike at 2k and mine at 1.5...

Another thing is of course, the 33bhp.. Is it even worth it?

Even if restrictors are available for the bike..

They are good and reliable when they're standard, that one's been got at, so don't be surprised if it needs constant fettling.

Oh, and I wouldn't pay 2K for that, it may have had that spent on it, but that doesn't mean it's worth the sum of it's parts.

God no. Sorry but just no. That's not original paint. It's been bastardised. As shaft said, get one in decent original nick.

Yeah, i think i will.. just a matter of waiting until a decent one shows up at the right price, or one who is willing to get a swap going

The SR's were't the most popular. Sort of cruiser style.

I've just been looking on ebay & auto trader and there are only a couple of B1's and they are going for what I would call silly money.

I would have a look for something else unless you are thinking of it as an investment.

See, now I wouldn't pay a premium for worse brakes and handling, I'd buy the SR and put flatter bars on it.

Depends why you are buying it though. If it's just for riding, I wouldn't even contemplate an old Zed, you can get a much better bike for the money.

As a classic, that's different.

There are classics and there are old bikes. Riding, maintaining and improving a classic that you want to keep in standard trim can be expensive and your classic easily just becomes another old bike.
