Is this just the same as a brake drum?

Just failed my MOT on a multitude of things, but one of the things was "Rear roller brake test indicates a severely grabbing brake".

Any ideas what this means?

He may be talking about a brake test on a rolling road. Was it tested on a rolling road?

The roller brake test is a test involving putting a roller on the wheel of the bike to measure the efficiency of the brake. It's nothing to do with the bike.

The issue is you have a grabby rear brake.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

Ok, cheers.

Probably needs new pads and the inside of the drum cleaned out. It has been squealing like a pig for months - don't don't use it all the time so didn't bother with it. I'll add some pads to the ever growing shopping list for this thing.

Don't go spending any money just yet, take it apart and see what's what. It could just be a buildup of dust (don't breathe it, it'll turn you into Warped), and a gummed up mechanism that's stopping it freeing off. The drum on my GPz305 was locking up solid when I got it, half an hour with some solvent and elbow grease sorted it out nicely.
