Unless it was the summer and really hot (talking burny legs here) I just chucked mine over - had certain traffic warden related reasons for doing so. It wasn't a heat resistant one but it never melted.

Don't blame me if yours does though. Smile

Well, I was going to, but apparently, as the man in hein gericke says, you can't really get waterproof as well as heatproof. Otherwise, you're looking to spend up to £45......you can tell what I thought of that.

I just bought a cheapie from them, £14...

I have a rain cover that I use for work, it's very thin and basically just keeps eyes/rain off... I stick it straight on normally without letting the bike cool down and it's never had any problems so don't worry about it.

I got a waterproof and heatproof one, with tie-down straps, for under £20. Try Busters accessories.

I tend to carry the chain on the bike, but ride back to my halls with the cover in it's bag and dump it in my room. Go for said ride, come back and park and lock my bike up. Walk to my room, get the cover, walk back and by then it should be cold enough. At worst I just sit about for 5 minutes for it to cool down if I've got the cover with me already.

I got an Oxford waterproof one (not breathable unfortunately) for £14 (I think) from Ebay.

I cover my bike immediately after riding when I take it to work. Fairing protects from the heat of the engine and tucking it up on the pegs, away from the muffler, has served to keep it free of burn marks. Not sure what method you might use on a naked bike, though... Thinking
