France bimble. Sat 1st June, Back in UK Monday 3rd June

The idea is a taster of visiting Europe, ideal for anyone who wants to go over the water but lacking the confidence.

It's not going to be a flat out ride, just a breeze into France on the cheap.

So far there are 8 possible BCF participants, a few have already booked so it is definitely happening on the above dates.

The plan.

Sat 1st June, Head to the Tunnel CT18 8XX

Meeting places so far, Salisbury & M3 Fleet services with a likely addition of the new Cobham services on the M25.

Food, final meet up and sort out at mcdonalds at J9 of M20 TN25 4BN. This is 14 miles from the tunnel.

Arrive at tunnel for midnight.

Train departs 01:15 Sunday morning, arrives 35 mins later at 02:50 Local time
Straight to hotel a couple of miles from train.

hotelF1 Calais Coquelles
Avenue Charles de Gaulle
Chemin de Bernieulles
62231 COQUELLES
FRANCE

Booking in date Saturday 1st June for 1 night
Although we're arriving Sunday were are just late booking in late for the Sat 1st.
Cost £28 PER ROOM. if a few are up for sharing to keep the cost down then obviously half it.

Sunday 10:30am, meet out front before going for food in Calais and then a ride 60 miles to Lille.
Steady ride, no tolls.

Hotel in Lille
Lille hotel
hotelF1 Lille Englos
Centre Cial Auchan "Les Géants"
RD 952
59320 ENNETIERES EN WEPPES
FRANCE

Booking in on Sunday 2nd June
Cost £29 PER ROOM.

Karting possibly at a track behind the hotel, failing that the track has a bar an there is also a club next door to the hotel.

Monday, head into Belgium on route back to calais (just so you can say you've been there)
Wander round calais or dunkirk, decide on the day.

Head back to tunnel at Calais for 4pm latest for 4:50pm departure
Arrive back in uk 4:25pm (uk time)

Tunnel 01:15am depart Folkstone on Sunday 2nd June 2013
Return from calais Monday 3rd june 16:50 (arrive UK 16:25)
Total £27

So. Tunnel return, night in Calais, night in Lille total of £84

or if sharing both nights £55.50 total. Bargain.

If you want to go, show your interest here or in the thread in sw section.
I can book for you if you would like, pm me, send me the funds and I will book for you that day and send you all the details for booking in on tunnel and hotel checkins.
You can book the hotels Here
Book eurotunnel Here

FAQ:
Bike insurance.
Your UK insurance will cover you for at least the basic cover required in Europe. Check your policy.

Why not go on a train earlier?
going on a sat train, coming back monday will double the cost of tunnel. This is elcheapo tours.

What to take?
Licence, PASSPORT, bike log book (V5), mot, Insurance cert.
GB badge on bike/helmet.

Seriously.

Just a taster weekend.

Any age, any bike.

You must have a full licence, be legal and be on a bike able to hold 70mph (on a motorway)

Though I'm likely to avoid motorways heading to and from lille so that it gives people a taste of being on normal roads on the right.

I was hoping to go for a quick 1 or 2 day trip to France this year anyway - will be my first time abroad with the bike so obviously this would be ideal.

Can't say for certain yet but will definitely have a think about it.

Lol, where did that come from Wink
Coffee in lounge - 1.20 euro. Breakfast on its own 4 euro (or something). All you can eat buffet - cereal, cake, bread rolls and butter Smile The hotel is absolutely outstanding value for money if you share. Locked dedicated car park.
The area nearby has a couple of decent restaurants, a BMW Motorrad dealership ( Very Happy ), and a supermarket bigger than any ASDA I've been to Wink

Forgot to take a breathalyser with me, but thankfully I didn't get pulled.

And last but not least ... I KNEW I should have put a BCF sticker somewhere ..... Crying or Very sad

I've just checked and the tunnel still has space for the 01:15 departure on Sunday 2nd and the return on Monday 3rd june 16:50.

The hotel in Calais has rooms for Sat 1st and Lille for Sun 2nd so if anyone else fancies a little jolly out to France in 2 weeks time you are more than welcome to join us.

The only minimum requirement is the ability to cruise along at 70mph although we will be avoiding the motorways and taking our time.

Anyone wanting to go and unsure of bookings can paypal me the money and I'll book for them in their name.

Anyone got any route recommendations for a leisurely days ride from Calais to Lille? Any good places to stop off at? Nice curvy roads?
