Any one else done any thing as stupid as this?

Here the story starts....

My sister was on her way to work on her suzuki gn125, behind a car at a junction, the car was turning off, another car pulled out in front of the turning car which made her stop suddenly and my sister went ploughing into the back of her, and somehow managed to break a tail light. Im guessing she was too close to the car in front or wasnt paying the slightest bit of attention. She didnt hurt herself but has to pay for the tail light which the lady has said would be about £100.

Any one else done something like this??

it is an absolute classic for an accident. the rider / driver is looking right to the oncoming traffic to see when it is ok to pull out, but it is easy to forget that there is a car in front which has still to move. Have nearly done that a number of times. But then I am a spakker, so not surprising really.

Yep, but the other way around. My mum was pulled up to a junction, a car pulls up behind her. She lets off the brake just before she starts to move off and the car accelerates straight into the back of the (almost) indestructable CG125 and knocks her into the verge. Broken mirror and scared old woman in the car, couldn't apologise enough. Smile

Making sure the vehicle in front is actually doing what you think it is can only be a good idea... Rolling Eyes

Glad to hear the girl's alright, but damned if that isn't the most expensive tail light in existence. What'd she hit, a Bentley? Shocked

I did exactly the same thing on my Cb500.

However I went straight into the back of an AudiTT Crying or Very sad

Knocked my clocks, mirrors and handlebars off.
Only put a small hole in his bumper.

The AudiTT driver was cheeky enough to claim personal injury compensation after a 10mph collision Shocked

Not sure tbh,
The police didnt come as I admitted liability and was not hurt, apart from my pride.

It was the insurance company that informed me he was claiming.
So sent them a picture of my bike with its minor damage as requested.

So hopefully his claim gets laughed out Smile

It was a multi people carrier, like ford galaxy stylie. she doesnt know what make the car is but the woman who owned it had only had it for 7 days and this is her 3rd car that has been crashed into. We are getting a mechanic friend to look into the costs to see we are not being ripped off. The woman was nice about it tho and it was my sisters fault because she was too close and didnt pay any attention.

It's like they say when on a bike you should be looking a few cars ahead to be sure you know what it going on ahead which might course the car directly infront of you to do something like stop etc.
But a slight lapse of concentration can be bad as proved here.

It's like when you start thinking about things on a bike then suddenly you think shit! I totaly was really concentrating there then you are switched on for the rest of the Journey.

Friend of mine nearly did this at a roundabout... Just assumed that the car infront of him had pulled away so he stepped on it. Missed hitting the (very static) car in front by about 3cm!
