lights not working please help!!!

I had trouble with my wiring on my 2002 derbi senda and my regulator failed.

Before this I managed to have everything working.

I have just plugged in my new regulator and a new fully charged battery. Everything is working apart from my front and rear lights. The rear light is a brake/tail and the brake part works fine.

The front and rear bulbs blew as soon as I turned the ignition. I have replaced the rear and there is a very very very dim glow on the end of the light tip.

Any ideas what could be wrong?

Have you checked your fuses? Try using a multimeter across the bulb terminals, although my guess is that you have a melted wires somewhere causing a short.

Fuses first, then get busy with a multimeter. Check for voltage across the bulb connector, then work your way back until you find out where it's failed.

you have a break in the wire from the lighting coil,usually switches in the coil when headlights turned on.,,check for bad earths to lights first then ,as other posters ,measure resistance across coils with multimeter to see if coils are shorted or ok.could be fault on switch,probably a loose connection /fault from genny.
