There was a common blag with bike locks at school. If people left their locks on the gate over night the local scummers would come and put super glue in the key holes.

The next day they'd show up and make off with any unlocked bikes.

A friend used to leave his bike lock at uni where it would occasionally get super-glued

he used to carry some superglue dissolver with him - sorted.

Had the police round 14 times in the last 6 months ....tonight will be the 15th .... They said they have plans to put a cctv in the street but not got one spare yet ,,,

Think Its time to move on ,,,

That's pretty brazen though. If they're at that stage, I would sadly but seriously suggest that you need to be ready for ferals tailgating you into the house and picking up your keys. Sad

I wish this was hyperbole, but I've heard it from copper acquaintances who are sick of dealing with it, and a workmate has just experienced an open door walk-in-drive-away in a nice low crime residential street. The ferals know that there's essentially little chance of being caught, prosecuted, convicted and receiving a serious sentence, regardless of when or where they do it. No violence, no break ins, no need to go equipped, it's just shoplifting high value items.

Sleep well, don't have nightmares.

[Goes to double check that the door's locked, and take the vehicle keys upstairs]

started to sleep in the day and be awake at night until 6 am when the traffic starts up. Have plans to put two security lights up out front and get a ground anchor fitted into the wall, This bike is alarmed too but looking at getting another trip wire alarm fitted.

What I really want to do is borrow a van and have a few nights out in it to catch the [email protected] solution is get them off the streets once and for all.

Yes totally sure it hadnt just fallen off apart from been wrapped round the rear bar it had a bungee chord woven through it, I should have locked it to the bike but didnt think that far couldnt see why anyone would want to nick a locked chain they cant unlock .

We had a (locked) Almax Immobiliser chain pinched from our garage a while back. Luckily for me the bike was with me at work at the time.

The opportunistic thieving sctotes will often take something just because they can, then wonder what to do with it afterwards

Neighbour fetched the chain back , he had seen me puttung it on a couple of days back so knew who it belonged to when he found it slung in his garden ....

That will do for what ever new bike I manage to get this spring.

Ive had a helmet pinched, whilst my back was turned using an atm. Shoei flip with sun visor etc, i sat it on the seat, withdrew cash and abracadabra. Walked home for the spare, returned to find key barrel partially extracted. If the electric start had been working the bike would have gone. It made me wiser.

Acetone should work. You can get bottles of it off ebay for nothing. Nail polish remover should work too, but I'm not sure if it's as strong?

Definitely not. They nicked it so he couldn't lock it up.

I've pondered that situation, and I believe that I would James May it. Ride home au naturel, if tugged by the fuzz, wade in with "Oh, wonderful, have you caught the scrotes that nicked my helmet already?"

£60 fine, no endorsement, let's 'ave it.

Not sure about riding all the way home, definitely re-locate and secure the bike, possibly by pushing in town, wouldn't ride in a busy area without.
