Body armour question

I just got one of these.. (from ebay)

it came with two approx. 12 inch by 4 inch long bits of armour, with 4 screws. Can't figure out what they are for, any ideas?

They are great as you can just wear an MX shirt over the top. Much cooler.

I think hard armour works well at low speed impact as it resist the impact. But at speed if it fails you get the hit. Soft armour spreads the impact.

so I figure MX at relatively low speed, MX hard armour better and cooler. At road speeds, textiles and soft armour.

collar bone braces ? supposed to stop it poking through your skin if you snap it i believe, horrible image so threw mine to the back of the garage... almost always my ribs or shoulder that get destroyed when i come off anyway.

yeah that's it, I put them on but if they annoy I will remove, I don't travel at fast speeds, but do fall off a fair bit, usually left knee and left arm/side hit the ground. I have kneed pads now too.
