Hi,

Not sure if this is the correct part of the forum to post this or not.

But what are TCX Boots like? Not sure of an exact pair yet but that overall brand.

Looking to get a pair of them tomorrow as I can't really wait to order from online.

Any pros/cons of them?

Thanks.

Been using the TCX GTX boots for the past 4 years.

Ive had 2 pairs in that time. (wear them everyday for walking around in also)

When my first set were about shot as the soles had worn through, i rang the company up to ask about another pair of replacement soles ( these are about the only ones that fitted me, being a size 14). Told me they didnt do the soles seperately, but as i was happy with the brand, they knocked £40 off the price for a new set.

I live in them. Thumbs Up

Had a pair, personally Sidis fit me better and last longer. TCX, or Oxtar as it was then do crash well though IME.

Thanks fellas for the great replies.

One more thing is. I need a new jacket also. I like a snug fit, with minimal pockets so found two Alpinestars Jackets which are T-Dyno and T-Gasoline which is a fair bit cheaper or a Icon Overlord jacket?

Know anything about them?

Thanks again.

On my TCX boots the reinforced pads for the gear lever came apart at the seams and had gaping holes within 1 year, I think the first bits fell off within 6 months. When i complained to TCX customer services, they pretty much accused me of swapping the boots I'd bought for older ones(!) because they were so shitty so quickly.
I've now got a pair of Alpinestars SMX5 WP and they're infinitely better.

Thanks mate, Good to know. Obviously with everything some will like a certain product and some wont due to various reasons.

Will take a look tomorrow along with the jackets.

Thanks.

I have some TCX S-Race boots. I can't think of anything bad to say about them. I like the exoskeleton which stops the ankle twisting any way it shouldn't. I bought these over similar A*'s and Sidis because in terms of protection, you'd have to pay £250+ for similar protection from the A*'s and Sidis whereas the TCX's can be found for £120 online.

Also generally the reviews seem to be very good. Obviously there's the odd bad one (see above!) but I think you'd have to be pretty unlucky to get a bad batch. I've had mine for over a year and if I cleaned all the mud off them, they'd look like new.

If I crashed and somehow destroyed them, I'd buy exactly the same pair at the drop of a hat.

I wear a pair of TCX (non goretex) everyday and they are very comfortable. Only downside is in heavy rain they aren't waterproof so I'm looking to get a pair of alpine stars SMX5 WP as my next boots.

Although I've heard good things about the goretex TCX and Ride magazine vote them as best waterproof boot.

I've got a pair and I practically live in them as well. I've just bought a pair of alpinestars as the TCXs are getting a bit tatty and they are not nearly such good quality.

I have Oxtar boots that are nearing the end of their life.

I've done trackdays, touring, little bit of racing, few crashes, they've even been through the washing machine - They're really good.

Discontinued now though. Sad
