How many of you ride a push-bike (xc, trials, downhill, road/racer or just generally for getting from a to b)
I'm curious because I have heard varying different stereotypes about bikers hatting or loving push-bikes.
If you do ride what have you got and what sort of riding do you do? Also did it start off the interest in motorbikes for anyone?
(this is starting to look like a market research survey!)
I ride a GT Avalanche 1.0 disc, mostly xc but its also my campus run around at the mo... until I get an mbike ____________________ Every time I learn something new it pushes old stuff out of my brain!!! |

Used to ride it every day before I got a motor bike. Had my paper round and socialising and all that, probably done at least a few miles a day on my old faithful Raleigh Marauder, later to be changed to a Baracuda. The Raleigh had the best brakes in the village and I could do near to 12 o clock stoppies, whereas the Baracuda stuggles, even after changing the pads. |

I used to ride with Reading CC and did time trials and stuff on a road bike, but haven't ridden to that level for years.
Still ride though, off road mainly, on my Orange Gringo mountain bike. ____________________ Don't do as I do, do as I say! |

When I was about 13/14 I got into Jumping my bike, it wasn't that good a bike, worth about £600, It was a "Giant" frame, SR Suntour 100mm travel front, Front a rear Magura hydraulic brake. I done quite a lot of dirt jumping, I stopped once I gained a massive bruise in the groinal area, and when it became to much money to maintain, I sold my mountain bike in order to get my present bike. ____________________ Be careful whose advice you buy, but, be patient with those who supply it. I used to commute to work on a bicycle in London for several years before I got a motorbike and even for a few years after while I was still learning. Two positives were the healthy exercise and the much easier parking. A big negative was that I lost count of the number of bicycles that were nicked after it got into double figures... The most memorable theft was when someone had ripped the signpost out of the ground that I'd chained it to.
Only ever had one minor bump on the bicycle which didn't damage me or the bike. Contrary to what some people might think, I always felt fairly safe cycling in London traffic, especially in Central London where a lot of the time you could move faster than the cars...
Got pulled twice by plod. Once in the dead of night for running a red light on an empty road - except that plod happened to be behind me... (generally speaking I did not run red lights or ride on the pavement). The other occasion was for cycling while drunk... Both occasions I got away with a telling off.
A great place to go cycling in London are the canal towpaths which form something of a hidden cycle network. ____________________ "It's all about dislocating expectation"

I used to cycle every day, 4 miles into work, 4 miles back, rain or shine
Used to do cross country racing when I was a lot younger too!
Then I found motorbikes and the internet and become lazy fat and unfit ____________________ Current Toys: 06 Yamaha WR250F | Nissan 350Z GT | Tech 4 Homes |

I still have my Scott Peak mtb but havent used it in at least 2 years.
Used to do a lot of everything, ranged from riding A to B, off road trails and general nonsense until I got my 50cc.
I'd like to start using it again but it has a badly buckled back wheel from all the jumps & drop offs.
Will get it sorted, some day. I find it relaxing, until you die of exhaustion. ____________________ Aprilia RSV Mille R Edwards Replica - Aprilia RS250 - Suzuki GSXR600 Supersport Race Bike |

Used to ride it lots, 45 minutes each way to work, and lots of general jump type stuff, wheelies & stoppies. Managed to shatter my funny bone (and before anyone says it, no it was not funny:P) and have broken my ankle on pushbike before.
Got a Specialized FSR sitting in garage feeling sorry for itself as it's been sitting broken for quite a while now. Did have a Specialized Hardrock before that, but it had a slight disagreement with a tree and the tree won. |

I have a Specialized Rockhopper Disc 2 (02) upgraded to XT spec, which I bought when I was cycling to work everyday, but since then I have changed jobs and it's been sitting in the garage for about 6 months....
I live all of 2 minutes away from Cannock Chase so the fact that my bike gets neglected is a bit of a crime really! ____________________ You will become my force of retribution. Where you tread, doom will follow. Go now and claim your destiny |
