Right,

I recently decided to swap the twin high level pipes my bandit 600 had when I bought it for a single slip on so that I can have luggage.

As I already have a can (scorpion very nice it is) I bought this link pipe https://www.banditmaniashop.co.uk/bandit-viper-600--650--750--1200-95-06-single-standard-budget-link-pipe-2604-p.asp

Problem is I CANNOT figure out how to put it on the bike as it came with no mounting instructions.

Has anyone else fitted one? Could you provide a step by step?

PLEASE HELP GET ME BACK ON THE ROAD!!!!!!

Yes, I know my post marks me as a complete idiot.

I just can't work out where the bracket on the link pipe goes or what it is for. Doesn't line up with the bolt hole under the bike which is used on the standard exhaust according to my Haynes manual.

THIS IS SO STUPID!! Fitting new rear wheel bearings was easier than this...

It's a universal link pipe sold by babditmania to fit all years of bandits.

Pipe isn't actually on the bike. If you look at the pic on the link I posted you'll notice a bracket on the link pie which sticks out. I need to know where it's supposed to go.

I have a 1999 faired bandit so it should fit. I will grab some pics and post them tomorrow.

Cheers for the offer but I have everything I need as I can always go back to the twin system.

The bracket that stands out of the pipe, your centre stand leans on it,

Ok so here is the link pipe and a close up of the bracket and the end I assume is for the silencer because its fatter.

Ja7 I don't follow. My bike doesn't have a centre stand was removed by a previous owner to fit twin exhausts. I'll assume that means the bracket goes on the inside near the collector box?

The bracket that sticks out is likely to be what the centre stand bashes when the bike's off the stand as Ja7 says. It's to stop the centre stand bashing the pipe itself I believe.

If you google "link pipe protector" Or "exhaust centre stand bracket" or some other similar combination of words then you may find a picture that explains it.

I assume you know that the can is held up by the circular clip that hangs off the rear peg mounts??

The link pipe should just then fit between the front section and can.

Got it, try and use the old collector gasket with some exhaust paste if you have any. Your end can looks the same as mine, have you got the baffle out on yours ?
Nice rear sets, lovin them had my eye on some, but bit expensive at mo

I think it is the same can. I actually have two of them as that's what the twin system consisted of.

I haven't tried without the baffles out... Yet. Bike was fairly loud on the twins with baffles in.

Baffle out on yours? Overly noisey?

Cheers, my originals were all pitted so christmas present to myself Smile

I bought a brand new gasket but managed to unravel it whilst pissing about with the pipe. Have ordered a new one. Is there a trick to getting the link pipe to fit in the collector with gasket?

I know it's a tight fit but I couldn't get it to go in. May be cus my collector box is rusty and on its way out. Will be getting stainless down pipes in the future.

I got a new one for £9.50 off fleabay.

Let me see what this single pipe is like. If I prefer it you can have first offers on the high level pipe work. You'll need silencers though, I'm using one and will keep the other for spares. Rest of the twin high level pipe kit is there and in good nick.

Bike has only done a GENUINE 10,000 miles since new and only 6,000 miles since high level pipes were fitted.
