Looking to get another key for my SV, where do you think I could get it cut? Anywhere or does it have to be somewhere special? Not bothered if it looks like a house key? Can anybody shed some light? 2001 model so no electric gizmos in the key as far as I know?

Cheers

walk into any key cutter, tell them it's a Suzuki and they will probably have blanks for it.

The keycutters here do anyway.

If not they will look for a blank like the one the key is made from and tell you to go else where if they don't have a suitable one.

If it doesn't work, you take it back and tell them.. they should cut another one for free (may want proof, take the bike to the door... that is what I done for the old one lol)

As overs have stated any reasonable decent key cutter will do, through some smaller places may not hold the right blanks but will cut a blank from Ebay etc.

I see you're in the south east, if you're any where near Muswell Hill I can't recommend Tony Andrews too highly. They've done Suzuki, Yamaha, and Kawasaki keys for me and even managed to find a suitable blank for a Husqvarna. And on one occasion they cut me a replacement from a snapped key which worked perfectly.

Any decent locksmiths would be able to cut a copy and have plenty of SUZ18 blanks on the shelves. Try to refrain from buying a blank online and taking it to a locksmiths to get cut. 9 times out of 10 I've found out it's the wrong blank that either the customer bought wrong or the description was incorrect on the ad. Plus the price difference is hardly worth the hassle of buying it separately anyways.

Timpsons cut me 3 working bike keys from the remains of a snapped one. Can't argue with that.

Last time I went to Timpsons I had to sell a kidney to cover having 3 bike keys and 2 house keys cut.

Think it came to around £35.

My local cobbler does them for £3, blank included. Mr. Green

£10.50 for 2 keys for the BMW from my local Timpsons, they are small keys though.

Timpsons will be expensive.
See if there is any alternatives.

I know near us there was a guy in a van who used to park up at the weekend at the local 24 hour Tesco for instance.

There is a local bloke with a tiny shop but last time I went to see if I could get a moped key cut he was just an arse and said no he couldn't so I won't even bother. If the couple I spoke too can do it then its happy days really.
