reoiled air filter now bike is splutering

reoiled the filter on my CG using K&N air filter spray oil (its not a K&N filter on the bike) got rid of the excess oil on the filter an refitted to the bike

now when trying to start the bike it splutters an farts

remove the filter its all rock n roll

have i buggered my air filter??

What's the filter made of? Oil is for cloth or foam filters really.

Suspect you've ruined an OEM paper filter.

Does it run fine with the filter off?

If so, wash the oil off with washing up liquid.

Or, don't do that. Don't try to run it with the filter off.

Dab the filter with some kitchen roll to try to absorb the excess oil, then see if the bike runs better.

im guessing the filter is choking the engine

will try getting rid of more of the oil..failing that will replace the filter

That type of filter normally requires engine oil.

The K&N stuff is probably not suitable for that type of foam.
