Does anyone know if a company is allowed to tell you to go home early due to adverse weather conditions, and then demand that you have to make the time up?

That’s what my place is saying today, but it seems wrong.

Yes

Would probably depend on what is in your contract/terms of employment/employee handbook etc. - if you have any of these.

It's unclear but they can't force you to take it as holiday or deduct pay because of it.

The first part of my sentance wasn't a question. I wasn't asking if companies are allowed to tell you to leave early due to bad weather. I'm fully aware they can!

But thanks. I'll try fish out my contract.

Exactly. Do you want to keep your job? Then don't piss off the management, let someone else do it.

Yes.
Mine.
It's in their adverse weather conditions policy.
Also if you can't make it into work you have to make the time up.
The various policies are part of the terms of employment.
