Which is the bleed nipple?

I need a quick crash guide how to bleed rear brake I have to ride to work in heavy snow at two and need a rear working break.

Is it the banjo bolt I open?

Open banjo bolt, push brake pedal, close and release brake pedal?

That is what it says on a how to video but I do not know which is the bleed nipple bolt.

Nooo!

The bleed nipple is where the plastic tube is attached to in the picture. It should be an 8 spanner, the ring spanner should fit on the base of the bleed nipple where the tube happens to be.

Its a case of pump 5-10 times, press hold, undo bleed nipple. Give it a couple secs. Redo the bleed nipple. Pump etc repeat.

Top up master cylinder as the level will go down to replace the fluid lost via the nipple.

You might want to put the end of the tube into a cup of brake fluid to prevent it from sucking up air from there.

Had a go at bleeding my brakes myself, problem is if I hold the lever down, then undo the nipple, the lever can then be squeezed more and fires fluid out the nipple?

the full pads are not even touching the disc. is that the back end of a hyosung or another chinease bike ?

That is a peculiar design. Still, as long as there's not too much air in the system, it should be possible to get it out.

You may find that you have to crack the banjo bolt a little if there's air trapped up there, but leave that as a last resort.

What you'll want to do is to loop that tube over so that it goes upwards after leaving the nipple. This will create a column of brake fluid that will stop air being drawn back in when you let off the pedal - that way there's less need to keep opening and tightening it up.

You can actually just renew the fluid by letting it run out this way, topping it up at the reservoir as it drains, but to get air out you are going to have to pump it out under pressure.

Be patient and determined (I know, I know) it can be a real sod to get all the air out of the system.

I have done it best I can considering it is freezing.

There were plenty of bubbles coming out I filled it drained it filled it again by this time my hands were nothing more than blocks of ice so I closed the nipple pumped the brake seems to hold ok.

Some brake fluid came out of the banjo bolt is this normal?

I'd also like to thank you know who you are for leaving the hose on my door step. I'll leave it out tonight if you want it back.

If fluid is coming out of your banjo bolt and you havent loosened it then its leaking and you need to tighten it / get a new washer etc.

Yes I put the crusher washer back in before I screwed the banjo bolt in tightened it now.

Can't see the rear making much difference apart from holding me on hills.

I will do it properly with new pads when the weather is not so horrific.

I trust my skill will see me through.

One between banjo > hose and then hose > caliper.

If you've got fluid coming out around the banjo, then air will be going in there. Don't rely on that brake pedal as anything other than an extended foot peg.
