Is there a better way of transporting your breakables on a bike than this?

snare and cymbals on back, pedal and a pair of trainers in the backbox. Very Happy

Never needed to transport mine since leaving for uni. And before then it was a case of asking mum very nicely for a lift in the car.

You could bungee the snare and cymbals to the backbox/seat. Personally wouldn't trust it though. Cymbals are awkward and heavy.

tried bungeeing the snare on, it didn't work, our practice rooms are in Coventry, I work in Warwick and live in Nuneaton.
Cymbal backpacks work really well, just glad all I use is hats, a ride and 2 crashes.

I had a similar problem playing the sax.
The solution i found was using a large camping rucksack that would just about fit my sax case in it, pretty much sat on the pillion seat when i had it strapped to my back. It did work well though.

Would it be worth buying a shite cheap snare just to use at home or at the practice session and leave which ever other one with a bandmate while the other is at home. Thus no needing to transport it?
Obviously on a cheapo one you wont get sound quality, but you'll get function.

Agree. Although not transported a sax.
75ltr one with zips that allow for more bulky items..Like a Fender strat. 2 Grooveboxes..wah-wah pedal. 6 input mixer with power lumps.

Also taken a harmonium...That weighed as much as a Vox AC30. As mentioned, if it'll fit in the sack it should sit on the seat nicely.

used to have the guitarist look after my breakables...
til his missus got the hump about him having his and my gear in the front room. Rolling Eyes
rehearsal rooms have said not to leave it there as other bands would nick it or use and abuse it.

Good effort Shocked People dont realise how much weight there is in a half a dozen cycmbals.
I have only ever carried my stick bag by bike to our practice room where i can leave my gear set up between gigs. Anything more than that and its the ford cmax for me.
My dad played in the 60's and had a trailer to take his drums around until he could afford a van. Mind you they only had little 4 piece kits with a couple of cymbals back then...

I used to ride with a Zildjian cymbal bag which had a strap, so I put that on first flat against my back, followed by my snare in it's soft case with the strap over the other shoulder flat against the cymbals, then would bungee strap my backpack with my double kick pedal and sticks in it to the back seat. Many an awkward ride to/from practice was had this way Laughing
