Hi,

I'll soon be heading back to the UK to buy a Monster or CBR 600 and will ride it back here to Norway (not paying two or three times what I should).

I've yet to make up my mind and need to test ride both. However, I'm having trouble finding decent panniers/saddle bags for the ride back - particularly for the Monster.

Would anyone happen to know of a company that provides a good assortment of MC luggage?

Thanks,
Antony.

I personally hate all things made by 'Oxford' but I have a set of their sports panniers and they've been fine when I've used them. They held together and because I kept my stuff in big bags within the panniers the stuff stayed dry. Pretty cheap too.

Just a thought, if it's the CBR600RR instead of the F, then you may have problems due to the under seat exhaust.

Search for "Kriega". They are really good.

I have used US10+US20+US10 and is more than enough space for two weeks trip.
They are easy to attach and you can secure it to the bolts under the seat (cbr600f)

If I do get the CBR it'll be the F4i (https://www.mcnews.com.au/testing/honda/cbr600f4i/Images/e_600p.jpg) - so hopefully there won't be any problems.

Still leaning towards the Monster though. There is one dealer with the above CBR and a M800 in stock so hopefully I can test ride both at the same place when I head over.

Thanks for the Kriega tip - checking them out now.

A friend of mine from Norway did the same sort of calculation to work out if it was worth importing a bike from the UK. In the end, when you added the import tax and the cost of travelling etc, it worked out the same.

Are you sure this is the best way to go about it?

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

I'll be heading to Australia later in the year so just want a bike for a few months. Would prefer not to take out a loan as I would need to if buying here. I'll be riding the bike back to the UK to sell it after the summer. Import tax here is crazy and definitely wouldn't be worth it though if I was transferring.

If anything, I think this is mostly a good excuse for a road trip.

Unfortunately the bike will still need to be registered and insured in Norway as that is the country of your abode. Unless of course you are going to commit fraud and register and insure the bike within the UK but most countries get a bit annoyed when people commit fraud for some reason.

I'll be getting UK insurance with European cover. I only plan to have it for 4 or 5 months some of which will be outside of Norway before I ride it back to the UK and sell it there. I have a UK license which is still registered to my parents address so there isn't any fraud.

Guess I'm a fraudster then too. In Belgium, you get 6 months of grace (for registration purposes), maybe it's the same in Norway.

I was just reading up to make sure. As far as I can tell in Norway you can drive a foreign registered vehicle for one year. I'm not registered as "residing" here otherwise it would be illegal.
