We had organised a Scottish Ride Out this morning so before I was going to meet some people, I had to go over to my mate's house to collect my car!

It was rainy, but generally didn't look icy - got all the way over to her house at about 8am. Was just pulling up to the car park beside my car and before I knew it I was down, very slow speed, so like I say, no real damage done!

Bike's okay, cracked AGAIN at the right indicator (where we've just fixed it Rolling Eyes ), but I'll be able to fix that no bother!!!

It was getting the bike back up that was a nightmare, the carpark was like a fucking ice-skating rink!!! My feet and the bike was slipping everywhere, I practically had to drag it over the ice onto a un-icy bit of road, so I could get it back up again. Then I stood looking at it and the whole area was just covered in black ice! Twisted Evil

I tried to stop a taxi to ask him to help me ge the bike up and he just looked at me like I was stupid - Asshole!!! Middle Finger Twisted Evil Middle Finger

Never mind, no real harm done, but I'd hate to have seen was some of those wee roads up by Loch Lomond and Crianlarich where we were planning to go today!! Twisted Evil

Anyway, ride-out was cancelled! Again!! Rolling Eyes

Take it easy out there everyone.

Fran Thumbs Up Karma Thumbs Up

Wot a wanker!! Evil or Very Mad Some people deserve their wheels to fall off while they're driving, doesn't surprise me of a fookin taxi driver though.

Almost makes me not be as pissed off that my cbr is dead at the mo

Could have been worse though i spose. Very Happy

It sure could, so I'm not really too worried about it honest! Thumbs Up I don't think there is anything at all I could have done to avoid it, so I'll just put it down to one of those unfortunate experiences!! Rolling Eyes

I've not got much luck with this bike at all me though!! Embarassed Rolling Eyes Laughing

As for the taxi driver - Twisted Evil Middle Finger Twisted Evil It was so obvious I had came off my bike, I mean it was lying on it's side - twat! Nevermind Karma will get him one day when he needs help with something! Twisted Evil

Glad to hear your not hurt or anything Fran and your bikes not too damaged Thumbs Up Karma

This is the reason that i worry when Craig goes out in the winter, because if/ when he does come off his bike, he gets hurt, the repair bills are bad, and no one ever stops to help him back up just like the taxi driver mate didnt help you Evil or Very Mad

Fallen Angel wrote:

But if he were ever in an accident and needed your help, i wouldn't leave him there like he did to you, because that would make you no better than him. Also, by helping him, he might help others in the future too Karma

Or is that just what would happen in my ideal world of happiness, sunshine and chocolate fields? Laughing

at least yours is working, I'm back to ignoring mine in the garage cos I can't bloody take it out as much as I want, simplt cos I'm too skint to get the repairs done & too lazy to keep bump starting it.

maybe in an ideal world, this may happen, however taxi drivers are a race unto themselves Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad

I just try to treat others how i'd want to be treated - sort of the like whole 'karma' thing. You know, 'actions have consequences.' And like you said, it is nice to be nice Thumbs Up

Exactly! Thumbs Up

I mean, I could never have driven by someone struggling to pick a bike up - even more so after they tried to wave me down for help!

But fuck him - I managed it myself in the end!

Confused People are so mean aren't they, if I saw someone trying to pick a bike up I'd stop same is if I saw a crash I would stop to help etc.

Everytime I have crashed or dropped my bike I've had help picking it up, sometimes didn't even need to ask them! Once I dropped my first proper bike (An ER-5) right out side Old Trafford, one of the fans walking past came running and helped me pick it up! Again at petrol station I forgot to put the stand down, a guy helped me pick it up! It must be just the kind people down here in Manchester. Razz

Anyway Fran, take it easy girl, and if in doubt don't take it out. Wink

There was no doubt this morning before I went out, it had been raining most of the night and was still raining this morning - it didn't even look frosty, but well, sh*t happens eh!

Sounds like you've been lucky getting help mate - lucky you!

Worst thing this morning was it was 8am in the morning and my mate lives in a wee culdesac (sp) and there wasn't a soul around except this taxi driver - twat!!

That's real unlucky, about the zillionth member to of fallen off their bike this week.

To be honest it seems a bit silly to have a rideout in Scotland at Winter. Laughing Razz

God Fran....thank God you are okay...and the damage to your bike is minimal.

It is true...there have been a load of offs lately..but it IS the season...
damn the weather !! Thumbs Down

You sound as pissed off as me on Thursday when I came off in the wet.
I was achy, muddy, dazed...and THEN faced with picking my bluddy bike up which had skidded into the middle of the road Crying or Very sad

My left hand was killing me...but after 3 attempts I wedged my knee under the left side and yanked the ruddy think up straight !! Thumbs Up

I doubt it will be my last...but hopefully it will be my worst.

I dropped my bike right outside a bus stop in the rain, in my first month of owning it. Did the assorted pensioners/dole claimers/schoolchildren bother giving me a hand? Did they buggery. They just stood and stared while I picked my bike up, picked up the smashed bits of fairing off the pavement and shoved them in my bag.

Well f*ck 'em anyway Cool

(sorry that turned into a random rant somewhere Laughing )
