Tyres... for zzr 600

Hello.
I looked for good topic about the tyres but unfortunately everything I found was few years old. Being aware that technology changes rapidly, manufacturers like to release new models nearly every season, the question is: Which tyre would you recommend in terms of long life (high mileage)?
I used to use maxxis supermaxx touring tyre on my kawasaki zr750 and have to say they lasted around 10k so was quite happy with them and i'm considering getting them for my zzr 600.
I will probably go for standard size 160/60/r17 for the back (front still fine).
Im tempted to try Michelins pilot road, as its similar priced but I bumped on few reviews according to which life expectancy is 6k..
If any one has good experience with any of these, (or anything for touring) please give a shout.
P.S. if you know about any deals on the tires that will come handy as well:)

You've got to take into account how you will be riding as well, it's all well and good having Tyres that can last 15k+ in miles but if your riding hard or faster than a normal commute you want something with a little stick to it.

Good point.
As I said I used to ride zr 750, and by all means this is not a performance bike, but I used to grind the foot pegs on the corners, and maxxis never let me down. Plus the handling was great as well.
I live in Scotland and we do get a lot of rain, but even on wet maxxis was behaving properly, but obviously I was more carefull with the throttle.
Now zzr600 is a different story, I just had one ride on it, as I got it last year in a cardboard box and it took me a wee while to put it back to shape.
It is much more powerfull bike but i'm still planning to use it for touring and commuting, so sensible speeds..

Maxis seem to be a good overall, with price & quality & overall performance.

To be honest your best bet is to try and find someone on here who also has ZZR and see what set up they have and see how they review it.
You will get lots of different opinions from people who have certain tyres on different bikes, which is useless information to you if they don't have a ZZR.

Have you tried getting any quotes or any prices for tyres yet? If your using your local bike shop to change tyres see what they have to offer and post what they have on here.

I had maxxis supermaxx touring tyres on my ZZR and they were good in wet/dry/commuting. Didn't want anything too expensive as was doing 40miles per day. Lasted me approx 6-7 months before reached limit.

Im planning to buy tire from one of the web sites, 2wheel junkie, demontweek, ebay or what ever comes cheaper..
Maxxis 89 , Pilot road similar - 93, don't really want to go above 120..
I will get it fitted by my neighbour, quick and cheap;) so that's not a problem

I use Bridgestone Battlax BT023 on my Thundercat, I found them to be good for commuting/ride outs.

I use Pirelli Diablos on mine. They were the cheapest tyres I could find and served me well.

I bought them from mototyres.

i ran Dunlop Roadsmarts on my last zzr - and when this zzr needs tyres, i'll be using them again. they're long lasting, dual compound and also pretty damn grippy - i found them great all the time, all weathers and riding styles.

Pilot Road 2, MrJoolz from here got just over 15k on his rear tyre and he isn't a slouch, he does go for it a fair bit

i had maxxis on the cbr and in the wet i found they were pants.
front used to skip on turn in and seemed to want a second bite before gripping.
rear used to spin up with the slightest lean angle.

tried roadsmart and the front lasted two track days and two years riding including a trip to the TT.

rear squared off quite quickly and was replaced with a BT023 which has lasted ages and still looks good so gone with one for the front.

Michelin Pilot Road 1 - just had a pair fitted to my ZZR and very happy with them. Lots of feedback from the road and they stick to the road like shit sticks to army blankets! M&P do them at a very reasonable price.
