Hello there my friends,

I am after a rain cover for my little YBR to protect it from the elements but I have not got a clue what brands/models are any good and what size I'd need to go with.

Can you help a fellow out and suggest what I should look for?

Cheers!

I brought an r&g cover last year but it fell to bits within months so avoid them.... My new cover is awsome, completely waterproof and kept my bike bone dry even after all this snow and rain etc, I got it from a website called micksgarage.com they do a 125cc version which would be spot on for you, cover seems very high quality.

The oxford one I bought was great, heat proof for the exhaust, waterproof, fairly breathable...

I bought a couple of different covers for £4.99 from ebay because I didn't think spending £25 on an Oxford cover was worth it.

The cheap covers leaked massively AND managed to not breathe, creating a humid micro-climate all of their own.

So I bought the Oxford cover anyway.

Go for a decent Oxford cover, your bike will thank you.

Another vote for Oxford.

Had a couple of cheaper ones - not particularly waterproof and neither lasted longer than a few months before holes appeared. Easily ripped too.

Spent some cash on an Oxford rainex and it's brilliant. Nice heavy cover made from thick nylon I think and even some fleecy bits on the inside Thumbs Up

The fit to the bike is a little off but it's covered and dry Very Happy

Looks like I will plump for an Oxford I guess. What size would I need for my YBR though? Medium or small?

Cheers.

Mine's a medium and it's a stretch to get both wheels fully covered on the vanvan so reckon it's be about the same on the YBR. Mind you, I think the one I've got is more for sports bikes so my sticky up handlebars and mirrors get in the way! Was the only one suitable in the shop so I went for it. does fit though.

Just ask what size would be best if you're buying from a shop

I got myself an Oxford Stormex from Sports Bike Shop. Good quality cover and keeps my cbf cosy. I went for the medium sized and it fits nicely without having to fight to get it on.

If you have a top-box, or are intending to get a bigger bike after passing a test, get a large cover, IMO.

The large Oxford Stormex barely covers my ER6 with top-box on, and just about comfortably fits my SH300. I don't think you could possibly fit it on something larger, like a goldwing.

I made the mistake once of buying a small cover, Held brand from getgeared. It was barely able to fit on a Vity, a very small 125cc scooter; it was more like a very tight shower cap across the handlebars and rear end.

Mind you, it's quite baggy on the ER6 with top-box off; baggy to the point of needing the strap done up underneath it to make sure it doesn't blow off in windy weather.

I literally just bought a great cover from clas ohlson.

Seems really good quality, material strong, has a buckle to attach to bike.

For £14.98 Awesome

I used the Oxford one through the wonderful summer we had in 2012 on my YBR and it was fine.

Medium Oxford cover fitted absolutely perfectly, just touching/off the ground - with space to spare if you add a topbox, perhaps.

It's a bit of a stretch to get it over a GPZ500 though.

My cheap Oxford fell apart so I avoid their stuff now. Why was that cover good enough for them/me? What other crap do they sell?

Chains like candy bracelets, that's what.

I'd rather read about it than have it happen to me so no more Oxford.

I now have a heavy louis.de cover for home and a lighter Maypole cover at work, both are doing well through the winter (present effin tense).
