Fairing repair

So i've got two cracks on the edge of my nose fairing, from when the bike fell off it's sidestand a while ago.

One is about about 6cm, the other about 4cm.

I called Cradley kawasaki this morning regarding a replacement...600 quid they said!

Which leads me onto my question - has anyone had any luck with bodyshops repairing fairings? If so, how did it look, and fair over time?

Ideally i'd like to get a finish that looked 'as good as new' without approaching anywhere near the figure (i dare not type it again) quoted above.

Practical Sportsbikes did a feature on plastic welding a little while ago, something about cutting grooves in it and filling in with epoxy or something. Have you looked at second hand panels on fleabay?

Hi bud, try and find some cable ties the same colour as your fairing,weld ( melt ) them on with a soldiering iron, when cold and hard pare off carfully with a stanley knife, finish off to polish and blend in with Tcut, I haven't done a fairing but have done car plastics and works well, you just have to have a little patience...good luck

i ran along a the back of a crack on a fairing with a soldering iron starting just before the crack & ending just after it & i put a 1 cm line across the crack every 8 mm .

just watch you don't go to deep .
