Right so I'm all booked up for my first (mini) tour of France moto gp tickets bought as well as ferry crossing. Has anyone got any experience with parking a bike up in this area. A little bit worried about booking a hotel that has only got a couple of spaces out the front, so not very secure. My bike has an alarm on it and also a disc lock.
Any recommendations ?

We have never had any problems leaving bikes outside hotels when abroad or in UK for that matter. We have even left bikes with most of our camping gear on them outside a hotel near to paystations on a toll road in Italy. We have certainly never used disc locks and my Fazer has a steering lock that is hard to use & has no alarm on it.
Just go & enjoy yourself. Sometimes you just need to go & do things and stop worrying about wat ifs.

Where exactly?

What hotel?
Maybe better research and emailing the various hotels in the area would have found you a place with a garage, or secure compound.
There`s still time to find another hotel, maybe stretching your budget and using a logis hotel https://www.logishotels.com/en/ as an option

A quick search using the link shows the HOTEL LE CHARLESTON has 14 parking spaces with direct access from reception. the hotel is only 6+ miles from the race track

You may pay a little more, but its a holiday not an endurance test Wink

My old man does a lot of touring around Europe, and he normally emails in advance to see if the hotel can help out on the security side of things.

They are generally pretty helpful in his experience, and a fair few of them have let him keep his bike in the store rooms and at one place the owner let him keep his bike in his own garage while he stayed there.

So it may be worth getting in touch, using your best French, and see what they have to say Thumbs Up

If you use booking.com or other online hotel booking sites you can filter searches by parking and if they do advertise parking and it's crap the reviews will generally say so.

Did 15 countries in 2 months last year and bike was fine. The hotels with the most secure parking generally charged extra but it wasn't usually a great deal. Carried a monstrous lock with us and only used it a few times. A good few of hotels we booked insisted we wheeled the bike inside. Wink

Along the same lines.
Can anyone recommend a decent security chain that isn't a burden to carry on the bike (Under pillion / tank or tail bag)

My bike is secure at home, but I only have a shackle lock for when I'm on the move Thumbs Down
Need a lightweight but fit for purpose chain.

Cheers
