My bike is currently sorn while i sorted the mot out, now thats done I was wondering if i tax it online i can use it on suday for the Yorkhill easter egg run, bear in mind the tax disc on it is out of date by a full month, im not sure how it works but i remember being told you can ride if youve bought it online but im not sure if the tax disc on the bike has to be no more than 5 days out of date for you to use your vehicle?

It is quite straightforward buying online but if you buy before Monday you will have lost a full month's tax as it will start on the first of March.

im not sure on this one if im honest.

i don't think having an expired tax disc is any different from having no tax disc to be fair, thanks to ANPR's and stuff these days. they're going to be watching us like a hawk on sunday, so i'd make sure it's definitely okay to ride whilst you wait.

sorry im nae use!

You could get done for not displaying, but you won't.

You either have to back date the tax to march 1st to be covered, or run it from April 1st and hope you don't get pulled. I think they would be fine with it. https://www.gov.uk/apply-for-tax-disc-in-advance

I'd book it in advance. But what do I know, fuck taxing bikes Laughing

If you're not bothered about losing a month then do it online, you'll be covered from the time the website accepts your payment, very unlikely you would be pulled for not displaying.

it says i am commiting an offence even if i buy online, you have 5 working days from the start of a month to put a new tax disc on so sunday being 31 days since the start of march i think il be fecked if im caught just not worth it.

think that applies when its not sorned Lyam. You can tax it on line before the end of the month, Ive never lost a months tax because of it before, unless the rule changed very recently

Remove it then.

Ridden round with no tax disk or invalid tax disk forever.

No points for having no road tax, failure to display or any of that stuff. Thumbs Up

If you are going to an event with several bikes there then why would they pick on just you?

I took my intruder out on the road when I just got it on the day of hoggin the bridge.... no tax MOT or insurance.... but out of the thousands of bikes that attend they aren't going to be looking to stop one bike... they are going to be helping keep them moving more than anything. I even waved to a few police officers and they waved back/pointed me in the right direction.

sorry, but I can't be bothered to buy 2 more tax disc holders, so I have both sitting on the bookshelf.

If you are in a group of a few bikes then I wouldn't worry too much about not being 100% legit on the road....

I honestly can't remember the last time I displayed a valid VED on my bike, the disc on the XJ was bought by one of the previous owners and is at least 3 years out of date.

I do keep the valid disc on me somewhere, but it's never in the disc holder.

If you buy online.Don't forget that you get an email for you to print off so if questioned you can produce that.

Unless you are being a compete dick, then from what I've found... bikers usually stick together.

For example I made sure it was well known I was riding a 600cc bike on a provisional licence (insured but with instructors), and on ride-outs I made sure I was never the back marker

The 5 days grace period for displaying a tax disc is only valid if it was taxed up to the end of the previous month, not SORNed.

Rest (mostly) assured that the coppers at Yorkhill develop a temporary blindness though.

The scum don't need to see it they have modified perfectly good computers to scum folk automatically if they don't have a record of tax or SORN.
Short and Curlies.

I've taxed a few days before the end of the month as the fine is waaaay more than a months tax. Been shafted by the fuckers before for this.
Even though I've coughed doesn't make them less of a showur a cunts mind. Mad

The fail to display should be challenged in court as laws have changed and that stupid detail is a bit redundant. So long as you can prove you have/had tax should suffice. We can produce license MoT Ins up to seven days at a polis station so why is stupid tax so different?
Awe FFS.. Now my blood is boiling. Christ..... I know I should never have stopped drinking. The voices in my head are back now....
